Tonight was all about Foggia & Zarate.

1-1

OKay result, but should have won with our possesion and chances.

Id agree with that. Foggia's assist was delightful. Zarate looked very lively and once again im lost for words with Muslera. Osasuna had nothing in the second half, and I think had it been a 'competitive' match the nature of that would have driven us through to the win in normal time. Again though, we need, for me at least, Ledesma pulling the strings, or someone of his ilk.

Nice, friendly game. Muslera...wow.

Great discussion with the guys in the ChatBox about fringe players. Still feel the likes of Del Nero, Inzaghi and Mauri can offer something whereas the likes of Makinwa, Manfredini and Meghni can't.

I think it's key, with 3 competitions, that we assess who we want to keep and who we don't. For once, we actually need a big squad with as much quality and tactical options as possible and tonight was a great night to try a few out although I think Ballardini's mind is pretty much made up. Baronio did a solid job and I'm happy for him to stay but only if he is vice-regista.

So-so game, nothing special apart from a sprinkling of Zarate genius and of course the amazing penalty saving ability of our man Muslera cheers . I wish every Serie A game could go to pens, we'd be up there for sure tongue Also, great credit to Dabo again for a brilliant penalty, I wonder with a shot like that why he doesn't try a few more long rangers in open play? Meghni also blasted it well, he should try a few shots in games, not just get scared when he gets near goal.

Of the other players, Cribari did well, hopefully returning to his more solid form. Cruz was in the right positions but there was little to serve him from the flanks. Eliseu struggled but it was his first real friendly.
It illustrated our lack of top quality midfield options and the use of a formation that didn't exactly get the best from the players we had available. I agree about finding the balance with reserves to keep and let go, it is still hard to get excited about Baronio etc. playing for us whatever!

Even more reason to bring in Abate as part of the LDS Deal! Abate and Foggia on the wings would be magic for us..
