PostSubject: Football Italia book - Lazio 1992-93   Fri Oct 02, 2009 5:31 pm

I mentioned in the chat during last nights match that I had bought an old Football Italia book detailing the 1992-93 season. The book was produced after the first season shown live on Channel 4 and inevitably features quite a few references to a certain Paul Gascoigne and Lazio. It is always interesting to read about past glories and the history of calcio and see how much the league and clubs have changed. Sile asked for a few scans and so I thought I'd share a few pictures with you all.

The cover, complete with jubilant Gazza cheers jocolor

Gazza's introduction and comment on Lazio, such a shame injuries marred his time at the club, it would have been great to have won that Scudetto!

A very dapper Beppe Signori, Capocannoniere with 26 goals, what a legend

The season statistics, notice the young Favalli in his first season with us....

The first match televised that season was our 3-3 draw at Sampdoria when Gazza was out but Signori scored 2. It says that Gazza was very impressed with him, stating that he had never heard of him when he arrived but after watching him play began to think he was one of the best players he'd ever seen!
There are references to Signori's amazing season of goalscoring and Gazza's Derby equaliser, along with a brief history of the club and a bit about Piola and Chinaglia. It's strange to see players like Favalli just making the start of their career (he had been in the Under 21's with Bonomi and Marcolin (remember him!) while they were all at Cremonese but we bought the lot for 10mil!!!).

it was beppe seasson, also one player had a good seasson that year aaron winter, yes it was gaza s injuries-but in the game when he played-he shows some magic touchs, beppe came from foggia(as a part of the fantastic foggia attack rambauldi-shalimov-signori)and exloped, the year after rambauldi and the coach of the foggia zeman(the pionier of the 4-3-3 system)came to us and we haded rambauldi-signori in our shirts.Year after 93/94 we was second in the league(scores more than every team, what a years....
