PostSubject: Fifa Under 17 World Cup - Nigeria 2009   Mon Oct 26, 2009 2:37 am

Thought this was worthy of a topic in its self.

It got under way today, with Nigeria - Germany. It finished 3-3, with Nigeria coming from 3-0 down. Impressive.

Gonzalo Baretto makes his bow tomorrow against South Korea, looking forward to seeing him for the first time.

Columbia won today, 2-1 against Holland, very impressive. They have a very impressive player called Wilson Cuero who is set to join Udinese in January 2010 in an identical deal that we have set up for Baretto.

Tomorrow Italy also make there bow, against Algeria.

Worryingly i noticed that in there 21 man squad, there is not a single Lazio player what so ever.

Anyway, should be an exciting tournament.

Any thoughts?

Italy struggled to beat Algeria, eventually winning 1-0 with a late Cararro goal.

Last year we took him and here we can see he is a Lazio player:

If I remember last year we took him from a swiss team.

Kasami is listed as our primavera player on transfermarkt.de which is a fairly reliable site

Now I can't find Kasami listed anywhere
http://www.sslazio.it/cms/view/home/squadra/settore_giovanile/primavera/s140/c696

he's not listed as primavera in the 09/10 season. Something is wrong here.

This (posted September 2) says a transfer to Palermo is entirely without foundation, so I guess he is still ours.

As far as I know, Pasami is Lazio's isn't he?

How is Barreto doing? He didn't play in the win against Algeria - but did in the loss to South Korea.

NZ are doing well. Two 1-1 draws against Costa Rica and Burkina Faso. Second in the group. Next up - Turkey.

Was just reading in another forum (iranian football) that the first two teams in each group will advance, but that also the 4 best 3rd placed teams will go through, leading to 16 teamns advancing from the group stage. It seems a bit strange to me that they havent invited 8 teams more, or 8 teams less, so that only the first two teams would go through. I dont like these bendings of the rules, where a team can miss a chance of getting through because a team from ANOTHER group has managed to score more goals or so...ridicolous..invite 6 more teams so that the U-17 could be played as a "real" World Cup, or go for a lesser number of teams and go straight to quarter finals...

Italy v Uruguay today at 19.00 CET. Should be a great game.

Hopefully Baretto has recovered in time.

Kasami is another player in a long list to get into a dispute with the management of Lazio.

Whether he is still at Lazio at this minute I'm not sure, but he certainly won't be for much longer. Even with the juniors there is complete mismanagement.
