As everything in Italy after the second post-war up to the famous "tangentopoli" scandal in politics, Lazio also was touched by the political centre and its major party. For instance, with Lazio on the brink of bankruptcy after the Chinaglia's presidency, Bocchi and Calleri took over pushed by Giulio Andreotti, perhaps the most influential politician in Italy ever (and a declared asroma fan, as well)

did exist posibility that somebody pushed lottito to took lazio?

My greatest worry is Lotito will be replaced by someone just as bad or even worse. That would really be a serious blow.

I believe Matteo Messina Denaro is still around somewhere. Can anyone get in contact with him?

I hear he is full of these offers Conn talks about. Twisted Evil

It's not just a possibility, phantomm... it's what actually happened. Lotito himself said that he would have never bought Lazio. So what happened? The issue is public and we talked here many times but since I'm dying from my damn spring allergy and cannot sleep, i'll sum it up for you Very Happy

Back at the summer 2004, lotito had a relevant amount of credit towards Regione Lazio, led by Storace (right-wing and strong asroma fan...). The credit referred to the main activity of lotito's business, that is cleaning (mainly Public administration and public services buildings).
Back at that time, Lazio was in Capitalia bank's hands (one of the biggest banks in Italy), which had "seized" Lazio after the Cragntti's Cirio company default.
In order to avoid bankruptcy, Lazio needed a debt-restructuration, and, to start with, a new property. The pressure from the fans on all political institutions was huge. Politicians started to think how to solve it and came up with two names: lotito (supported by the right-wing) and tulli (supported by the left-wing). Capitalia had a role. Eventually, lotito took over Lazio just by converting his credits towards Lazio Region into s.s. Lazio shares channeled to him by Capitalia. From a financial point of view, it was an exchange and lotito didn't disburse a single penny.

Now, what drives a (so far successful, in his business) entrepreneur focussed on profit, never seen at Olimpico to watch Lazio (instead he sometimes followed asroma) to buy a company about to go bankrupt, with a huge debt, very hard to be ever profitable, is a question no Lazio fan asked. We only observed, or started to observe. We observed, for instance, his business with the Region going up immediately afterwards. We observed lotito buying many lands for agricolture use and pushing for a project to build a city there. We also saw very "strange" balance sheet operations. We observed lotito trying to link with politicians more and more. And lotito was already linked with politicians.

In the Italian socioeconomic background, the entrepreneur with a large business that work with the Public administration is the natural counterpart of a politician. I'm not referring precisely to lotito, but in general, how (sadly) things have worked, and perhaps still work, is as follows. The "politician" uses the promise of a job to get the vote, and uses the "entrepreneur" to get his promise realized, but also needs to "repay" the entrepreneur, which however works for the Public Administration, so it's easier.

So, at the end of the day, getting rid of lotito it's not an easy question, but nonetheless the only channels that we can hope for are exactly those 2 who gave him Lazio. The risk that we end up with someone even worse exists, I agree Caput Mundi... but finding someone worse than lotito it seems very hard to me.... should it happen we would be then the most unlucky club ever seen on earth LOL

p.s. Kris, I agree with you, Messina Denaro should be up to the task... unfortunately i don't have any Sicilian connection LOL

Bravo Conn.

Without you, I do not think we would ever get such good information.

I am always living in hope that Lotito will leave. We need new breath of life and something to look forward to. The Eagle needs to fly. Fly the name of Lazio around the world.

Reja has shown to the world that the interference Lotito has brought is causing problems. Lotito is the one that is bringing our club to the bottom. Now that Reja threw Lotito out of the door, we won. Lotito is feeling small. Lotito need to go away. Lotito only knows how to run a business and not a football club.

Ok, fair fucks to Reja for sticking up to Lotito but I'd be careful with statements such as "we win when Lotito is made to feel small." Cagliari are quite happy to be where they are, they have little to fight for and too bad if our squad, which is as good as theirs can't beat them with more passion and desire. But I get your point, the less interference, the better.

Lazialita' is what will carry us through these days and I feel we have lacked that all season in all departments. I am now certain it is back but we got to keep the results coming.

I'm happy that takeover speculation is out there; but I'm quite happy for it to simmer in the background until at least June. Where, hopefully, we will still be in A.

ahahah I will have to do something to improve the perception people have of me Very Happy
Jokes apart, not only I am not bothered at all about sharing info I got, but I am happy.

About this thread, the feeling is that the time when we will change the title into "LA LAZIO IS FREE" is not so far away. Those who are close to lotito talked about a man whose attitude is not as sure and arrogant anymore. More about a man whose tone is dismissed, almost resigned. Alone.

I think we have reasons to hope, but at the meantime we need to learn from the recent past experience in order to react properly when we hear about offers and new names behind Lazio. We, as Lazio fans, were hurt badly in the past. Some names were fake, some other were even dangerous, about some others we still have not understood what really happened.

About Cragnotti, mentioned by phantomm, I don't think a comeback would ever be possible, although Cragnotti himself didn't exclude it. "Perhaps, after I will have fixed my problems with the justice", he said. Funnily enough, lotito was sure that Cragnotti was behind Chinaglia in his attempt to take over Lazio, which instead ended up in a huge sh*t affair. Just a note about Cragnotti. Exactly today he was discharged from the accusation of extortion in the Eurolat process, while the process on the Cirio's default is still ongoing.

What are Cragnottis economy like these days? and does he have any rich people/groups of people who would be able to back him up with $$$ if it was spent on the club??

The best thing that could happen to SS Lazio is that we fall in the hands of someone like Cragnotti. A person who actually cares about the club, the fans and the symbol SS Lazio. But he also has to be rich :(

i also read this somrwhere(cragnottti) "Perhaps, after I will have fixed my problems with the justice",thats why i was interesting exactly about this.
also last years he was in olimpico during lazio against inter game and all cameras was focusing him, only his presence was a presure for lottito(almost all medias and newspappers talk about that how ex lazio president(of golden area)was present during the game).
and realy i dont know why we(you who knows more than others about this problematic)need to wait for the questions, and than to answer. We need to have more info(one time in week, will be good, for the begining).
We agree that with lottito will be hard to fly again, but lets start talk about new names(if they exist)or have shovs the interest about us.
even when the changes happend(wich all of us want)to be ready and to have more info for that(MEMBERS OF LF DESERVES THAT).
I will repaid once again that a lot of us dont have any other chance to know nothing about this, except reading here,
also a lot of us dont know even how to make questions,so dont wait for the questions everytime.....THANKS

We have a great run in form and I think thanks to Reja, we are on the right track of staying up. But we still need Lotito out. Because of him... for many years...,. we are under achieving all the time. He is holding us by the throat.

Concerning our debate over Lazio-Fiorentina strike

Some time has passed, the thread is still locked so I'm using this one for the necessary updates.

1.

Roman_Eagle wrote:

as for the political reasons...in a city as huge as rome is ... don't think 50k ppl is a huge amount of voices...

and politicians tend to NOT keep their promises so...leave politics to politicians and see what you can do for Lazio!

The elections took place in the weekend. The right wing candidate Polverini has won. The counting is still ongoing but there are only few sections left. The difference in the number of votes, over a total of 4,7 million electors, will be not far from 50k.
[it's about 40,000 with 4859 over 5266 sections counted - http://regionali2010.interno.it/regio100328/R12.htm]

About the "promises", we will see... in the near future.

ilsemprelaziale wrote:

Conn: every match from now on is crucial, you and every other Laziale know this.

On the basis of this argument the fans were attacked harshly for the strike.

We drew against Fiorentina, then we lost against Sampdoria and after that we allowed ourselves an home-defeat against Bari.
And as far as I know, if there is something that really worries a Lazio fan when she/he looks at the table now, is not the bottom.

Probably not, but the whole point is that 50.000 can be a force to be reckoned...

Apparently Lotito is looking at trying to get Pietro Lo Monaco from Catania to replace Tare as sporting director for next season. Also, he was offered Peruzzi a technical director role (if reports on goal.com are believed to be true Very Happy ).

if it's true, Lotito must be on drugs. Maybe he's even considering to get rid of Manfredini, Inzaghi or Makipizza? And actually strenghtening the squad?
