I hope that the current defenders get some loyalty for their improved performances and don't just get benched for the sake of Biava and Dias (although I read that maybe he isn't ready to play yet anyway).

3 points, that is all.

I had a dream of Hitzlsperger smashing one in the top corner from about 35 yards out!

Ballardini better understand that we need 3 points and not 1.

Ballardini has adopted 4-3-1-2 again.
the stariting line-ups would be like this.

Muslera; Diakite(or Lichitsteiner), Biava, Stendardo(or Diakite), Kolarov; Dabo?, Baronio, Hitzlsperger; Mauri; Floccari, Zarate

Matuzalem is not ready yet. He will be ok from the next week.

Ah, I forgot about Radu, sorry... Wink but this is just my prediction based on Ballardini's training.
Ballardini tried to adapt 4-3-1- again... look at this.

Queste le due formazioni provate con il 4-3-1-2

1- Lichtsteiner, Stendardo, Siviglia, Luciani; Makinwa, Ledesma, Hitzlsperger; Mauri; Rocchi, Zarate
2- Diakitè, Biava, Radu, Kolarov; Scaloni, Baronio, Barreto; Inzaghi; Cruz, Floccari.

I'm really excited about Ledesma. Will he play against Catania or will he not?

I don´t think that Ledesma is playing against Catania. This game is really important - we play at home - we have some new players in the club.
Ballardini won´t change many players compared to the last games.

I think that Ledesma will play against Parma.

Any official list of the players called up yet? It's probably too early for that.

Radu, Stendardo and Diakite have to play together for this match IMO, no matter if Ballardini goes with 3 or 4 at the back - they all need to start. They have worked well together for a while now. Not worth risking the partnership and putting in Biava for such a crucial match. Hope to see Hitzlsperger start - with Kolarov supporting him in midfield. Maybe a hard man like Brocchi in the middle as well, or Baronio, with Lichtsteiner on the right wing (depending on what formation Davide goes with). Unfortunately Matuzalem is still out but what about Floccari? He took part in the friendly the other day. Hopefully he gets to play against Catania. If not, then I hope to see Rocchi and Zarate start up front because honestly Cruz was invisible last weekend.

Maybe this is the type of game Foggia should play in (more likely as a sub though)?

All I want is 3 points. Nothing less. These are the games Lazio must win, and with the Curva behind the boys - there's no reason why that can't be achieved. Catania are actually playing quite well though. Nothing special, but Mihajlovic has set up a nice team spirit and confidence at the club. Saw them at home against Parma 2 weeks ago and they destroyed them. Martinez had a brilliant game. Morimoto and Mascara are other threats.

But Ballardini has enough quality at his disposal to beat the Sicilians and hopefully he does this. No excuses.

FORZA LAZIO!!!!!

IMO balla should put the same 4 in defense as in the juve game. we were almost perfect there, so Dia Sten Radu Kola for me at the back. Biava needs to spend some time with the lads to adopt. Midline I'd go for Brocchi Baronio Hitz, we all know Mauri will play so no need to dream he'll be benched, and in front Rocchi - Zarate ( they both suck but since Sergio is not fit we don't have any options here). No need to tell you who I'd like in goal :)

so Muslera
Dia ---Sten------Radu-----Kola

Brocchi---Baronios----Hitz

Mauri

Rocchi -----Zarate

Hope Foggia gets some playing time.

But firstly: Anyone knows the called up?

http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/SerieA/Lazio/ - this is what I've found so if someone could translate... but the way I see it too many missing players...

Brocchi is injured, so Firmani or dabo will play.

BUT my formation would be:

Muslera

Dia - Stendardo - Radu

Lichti - Hitze - Baronio - Kolarov

Mauri

Zarate - Rocchi

This is the latest "infermeria" from the official site (nicely translated by Bing Suspect) -

Brocchi, Del Nero and Foggia therapies have continued.
The rest of the team is regularly alive.

Yesterday's read -

Brocchi, Del Nero, Foggia and Golasa continued with their therapeutic protocols.
Matuzalém, having regard to the positive control of yesterday, has intensified labour differentiated by a full recovery in the next week.
Dabo is also today subjected to specific treatment for inflammation of the right ' heel tendon.
Lichtsteiner is not alive due to a following bruise during training yesterday on the back of the left foot.

scratch so until yesterday he was under the observation of our medical team, now he has returned to Haifa Suspect
Poor Lichti... jocolor
I don't know what line up to expect for this, just flippin' win it...

No way. I have had enough of three man defence. I said it was poor from the off. It has got to be four man back line.

that's not 3 defenders - that's 5 + 2 ...thats the most difensive tactic...5 pure defenders and + 2 players in the midfield with difensive tasks...this how r playing Serie C teams when r playing against Serie A team :p (that;s the tactic with no creativity at all...with long bolls and no more than 1-2 mix passes and some poor conter attcks)

That is what I would play. Hopefully Matuzalem plays then Mauri, Firmani or Baronio do not have to. Maybe even Ladesma might play which would be an even bigger bonus. Foggia instead of Mauri.

Okay let me count the players on the line below Muslera again.

Dia. One
Stendardo. Two.
Radu. Three.

I do not think of it like that. In Italy it is 3412. Three centrel defenders with fullbacks pushed forward to the midfield line. You can say five defenders but the fullbacks are playing forward of the defence and in line with the midfielders so they essentially are wide midfeilders or wingers.

The problem is, that if Kolarov is playing in the 4 men def, then we have no creative men in the midfield.

I would put Kolarov in the midfield as long as Brocchi and Matu are injured.

It is the trequatista's job to provide the creativity. The three man midfield primary purpose is to protect the defence and win the ball. Anyway, Kolarov being Kolarov, he is still going to bomb forward even if he is playing deeper.

i guess you don't know what tasks do wingers have in the tactic....r u seen Lazio how was playing before Juve game...
difenders:
Li,Dia,Sten,Radu,Kola + Baronio and Dabo all the time with difensive tasks - no one time go in the attack near 16m...
i can't belive that someone approve Ballas "tactic"...
