Okay let me count the players on the line below Muslera again.

Dia. One
Stendardo. Two.
Radu. Three.

I do not think of it like that. In Italy it is 3412. Three centrel defenders with fullbacks pushed forward to the midfield line. You can say five defenders but the fullbacks are playing forward of the defence and in line with the midfielders so they essentially are wide midfeilders or wingers.
i guess you don't know what tasks do wingers have in the tactic....r u seen Lazio how was playing before Juve game...
difenders:
Li,Dia,Sten,Radu,Kola + Baronio and Dabo all the time with difensive tasks - no one time go in the attack near 16m...
i can't belive that someone approve Ballas "tactic"...

I honestly do not know how you got that impression. I am perfectly aware of what the wingers are supposed to do in the tactical lineup. And yes, I have seen Lazio before the Juventus game. Yes, they were defending, but that does not mean they are suppossed to be defenders. If that was the case then why not have 7012?

I never said anything about approving Balladini's tactics in the post. On the contrary I said in my previous post that Lazio should not play witha a three man defence which Balladini has been playing. You are reading things and getting impressions that are not there.

do you see how Maicon is playing ? is he defender in back line with 4 or is he attacking midfielder on the right side ? r u saying that in so called 3-4-1-2 tactic Lichtsteiner is playing more offensive than Maicon ?

and yes i will call Ballas tactic 7-0-0-2 - cuz that "attacking midfielder" in this tactic Mauri i cant put anywhere in the field...maybe he is player with no definition...he don't know how to pass, or drib or he doesn't know how to tackling with no foul - so he can't be midfielder or defender or attacker - so ill say that he is other referee or just runner on the field....

He is rightback. Therefore he is a defender in line with the other three defenders. Just because he is a rightback and defender does not mean he is restricted to defending. His modus operandi is too attack and provide width. Pretty much what a rightback is supposed to do.

well....im just saying that in tactic with 4 defenders (lets say: 4-3-1-2) the rightback can play same as that ("WBR"Lichtsteiner in this stupid tactic 3-4-1-2) - so that's way im saying that they r 5 difenders and not 3

Yeah. You can call Mauri what you want. Most people would call Mauri a rubbish trequartista. A rubbish trequartista but trequatista notheless since that is his POSITION in the formation REGARDLESS of how he performs. Just because a player(s) does not perform to how they are supposed to on a computer screen or piece of paper does not mean their role changes. It just means they are not doing their role or position well enough in that tatical system.

Capisci?

we can go like this until tomorrow....

anyway this is my other suggestion:

also Radu can play on the left or right and Kolarov can play sometimes in the midfield...also players in in midfield can change their place and Meghni can be good sub for Matuzalem or some other player in the midfield....also tactic can be change in 4-3-2-1 or 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1...
so sub can be:
Stendardo,Firmani, Meghni, Foggia, Floccari.
(Biava or Dias - i really haven't seen Dias in game and i've seen Biava just couple of times)
and i give money for all others just to go out of the club..and when i need some other sub i will take players from the Primavera (i better play Tuia or Faraoni than Siviglia...or Perpetuini than Baronio or Dabo....Mendincino than Inzaghi or Makinwa or that "new" signing Barreto...
and with new coach - someone like Chuck Norris we can beat anything cheers :p

I generally prefer a 4 man back line but for this game I would be tempted to go with 3 full backs. We need a win and sitting back and defending won't do it. I would like to see Kolarov go forward even more so in this match. Ballardini needs to have the team attacking from the first minute. The midfield needs to function well this time tough - against Juve it was very weak. That needs to change. This is a MUST win encounter.

I would like to see something like this.....

Muslera
Diakite - Stendardo - Radu
Lichtsteiner - Baronio - Hitzlsperger - Kolarov
Mauri
Floccari - Zarate

A shame that Matuzalem won't be available again but hopefully Floccari is, otherwise put Rocchi in his place.

FORZA LAZIO!!!!!

Oh and I read that Catania tend to play a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Quote :
Serie A Week 23 - 7/2/10 (14.00 UK)
Lazio - Catania
Stadio Olimpico

Sinisa Mihajlovic returns to face his former club in an unexpected relegation dogfight, but he’ll be in the stands due to a touchline ban.

The Catania Coach spent six years at Lazio from 1998 to 2004, ending his playing career at Inter. The Serb has not lost his fiery temperament, which is why he is suspended from the bench for this game, having insulted the referee last week. Another ex-Biancocelesti star, Dario Marcolin, takes over as assistant manager.

Only two points separate these two teams going into the Olimpico and an away victory would see the Sicilians leapfrog their opponents. Both are at risk of relegation and were recently knocked out of the Coppa Italia, so this is a six-pointer.

The pressure is growing on Lazio to bring Cristian Ledesma back into the squad after he lost his legal appeal to rescind their contract and an offer from Inter was rejected. Considering the injury crisis at the club, particularly in the middle of the park, it would be churlish to continue freezing the Argentine out.

Coach Davide Ballardini already has to do without Pasquale Foggia, Cristian Brocchi, Simone Del Nero and probably also Francelino Matuzalem. January signing Thomas Hitzlsperger could well feature, but Eyal Golasa is sidelined.

Mihajlovic has already used some of his mid-season additions, namely Maxi Lopez, who made his debut in last week’s 1-1 with Udinese. The former Barcelona and FC Moscow striker was meant to be joined by Mariano Pavone, but Betis Seville did not send the fax within the deadline, so he will not be coming to Sicily. Pablo Barrientos, Francesco Fabio Sciacca and Giovanni Marchese continue their stints on the treatment table.

Catania can certainly cause an upset, as they defeated Juventus 2-1 in Turin before Christmas. However, that was the Elefantini’s one and only away win of the season, surrounded by four draws and six defeats. It is also true that their lone victory at the Olimpico was 1-0 in the 1981-82 Serie B campaign. In the top flight their record here is of four draws in a total 10 visits.

Keep an eye on: Sergio Floccari (Lazio) – His arrival in the January transfer window from Genoa transformed the team and it was his injury that saw them return to the disappointing side of previous months. Now Floccari is back and the hitman has already proved he makes the difference. It’s extra special against Catania for the former Messina striker, as it’s something of a derby.

Last five in Serie A: Lazio (W D L D D) Catania (W L D W D)

Last season: Lazio 1-0 Catania
Lazio (probable): Muslera; Diakite, Stendardo, Radu, Kolarov; Dabo, Baronio, Firmani; Mauri; Floccari, Zarate

Catania (probable): Andujar; Alvarez, Silvestre, Spolli, Capuano; Ricchiuti, Carboni, Biagianti; Mascara, Martinez, Llama

What's the point of having a new player if we aren't going to use them...

Muslera
Diakite - Stendardo - Dias/Biava
Lichtsteiner - Hitzlsperger - Kolarov - Radu
Mauri
Floccari - Zarate

We need to go for a win..
