PostSubject: SS Lazio records and interesting facts   Thu Apr 22, 2010 1:18 am

Hi! I didn't find such a topic so I decided to make one. In the Bulgarian forum for Lazio fans we have discussed some records and I am going to translate the information about them.

The first record is connected with Serie A - average goals scored at home in one season - 1994/1995 when Lazio scores 49 goals in 17 home games which comprises 2.88 goals per match! Is was a magnificent season in which Lazio despite finishing 2nd has made some remarkable results - here are some of them:
Lazio - Fiorentina 8:2
Lazio - Foggia 7:1
Lazio - Genoa 4:0
Lazio - Inter 4:1
Lazio - Milan 4:0
Lazio - Napoli 5:1
Lazio - Padova 5:1
Lazio - Torino 3:0

A record for which I found and thoroughly searched to make sure it is unique and for that reason is one of my favourites: Lazio is the only team that was simultaneously never defeated and never eliminated and the tournament of Cup Winners' Cup! We also have a record for 100% efficiency in this tournament - one participation and one title :)

One record for which I am not 100% sure but my forum mates say it is a record - the only player who has scored a hattrick from fouls in Serie A- Sinisa Mihailovic as a Lazio player.

And another favourite of mine: our best average attendance for one season is during 1998/1999 season - 53 184 spectators per game.
We have been 5 times on 3rd place for average attendance in Serie A: during 1972/1973 - 45 591 spectators per game , during 1973/1974 - 44 846, during 1974/1975 - 40 859, during 1993/1994 - 50 149 and during 1994/1995 - 48 715.
The statistics is held since 1962.

Now some interesting facts:
3 of the 12 biggest football transfer fees are connected with Lazio (and of course Real Madrid are first with 6 out of 15 but they are consumers - only one of this 6 is a sale). Here are some details:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_(football)

I am sure that most of you don't know about these records and interesting facts and I'm sure that there are plenty for which I don't know Wink

Un'aquila nel cielo!

I would tattoo Lotito's penis on my cheek if we did this away to Genoa this weekend.

If that happens courtesy of a Floccari hat-trick, we're fucked mate...

Excellent post! I love stats and records....keep digging! drunken

That 94/95 season was insane to witness, our attacking play was unreal. That 8-2 win over Viola, I thought I was drunk.

I am glad you like the topic :)

Just to add one record which I think all of you are familiar with but surely deserves place in this topic: most goals scored in Serie A - Silvio Piola - 274 goals in 537 games. 148 of these goals he scored as a Lazio player. He is also considered to be the inventor of the bicycle kick :)

Another very well-known record which deserves some attention - the oldest player in a Serie A game - Marco Ballotta (44 years, 38 days), last game on 11th May 2008 as a Lazio player.

Now about the goalscorers: 6 times the goalscorer in Serie A was a Lazio player:
1. 1936–37 21 goals Silvio Piola
2. 1942–43 21 goals Silvio Piola
3. 1973–74 24 goals Giorgio Chinaglia
4. 1978–79 19 goals Bruno Giordano
5. 1992–93 26 goals Giuseppe Signori
6. 1993–94 23 goals Giuseppe Signori
7. 1995–96 24 goals Giuseppe Signori (Lazio) & Igor Protti (Bari)
8. 2000–01 26 goals Hernαn Crespo

And last but not least the link to wikipedia for our records and statistics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.S._Lazio_records_and_statistics

A couple of left-field stats tongue :

0 = number of decent performances by Anthony Seric at Lazio

0 = number of emotions displayed by Ballardini

Defender = the stated playing position of Oscar Lopez??????!!!!!!

1 = number of ass goals scored by a Lazio player in Serie A

3 = league goals scored by Maki since 2006 (Lazio only, he has 4 if you count loans cheers)

5'6" = height of the Fillipini twins

15 = minutes played in Serie A by "Eli" Eliseu

15 = number of varieties of pizza currently offered by Makipizza Ltd.

This isn't so much a stat but more a curiosity.

As everyone knows, in Italian football a lot of players take their year of birth as their shirt number. E.g. Ronaldinho 80 and at Lazio we have a few. Del Nero 81, Muslera 86, Diakite 87 and some of the young primavera lads wore their years of birth also.

Begs the question bout Manfredini's number 68?

This has been discussed once in the chat room, and the consensus is he's one digit short for a 69 (you know, the sex pose, because he's ugly, umm, yeah I hope we're clear)

One interesting fact that has sprung to mind all season:

Q. What do Delio Rossi, Davide Ballardini and Edoardo Reja all have in common?
A. They have all coached Pescara Calcio and SS Lazio.

Maybe there's a record for coach red cards in one season? Reja has three in less than half a season ( 11 games) Twisted Evil
