Interesting Article in Piazza della Liberta, about our captaincy. The president has asked the team to meet and choose the new captain "Still we have not decided - said Goran Pandev - there is time. We will do when Rocchi, De Silvestri and Kolarov returned from Olimpique. Rossi has made it a few days ago that the transition from a Zauri Rocchi is not automatic. But polls in team have already started, in dance there are Seville, Cribari, Ledesma and Dabo.

I think it's not automatically Rocchi because he is not automatically a starter now, wouldn't be surprised if Ledesma got it in a bid to keep him here or perhaps Pandev as a reward for his loyalty. This is interesting...

Oh no, "in dance there are Seville". This must mean Siviglia has a chance at the captaincy.

Ledesma, Dabo, De Silvestri, Rocchi, Pandev, Cribari are the candidates I would expect Rossi to consider, but certainly not Siviglia. I wouldn't be outraged if any of the players I mentioned were to receive it, but if Siviglia gets it? I'll die of laughter, no disrespect to anyone, but it would just be an awful decision.

in terms of leadership, I think he'll be good
but considering he is 35 and his Serie A career is almost done, I agree its a poor choice

If Ledesma gets the captaincy, I'll consider it an insult to the club and the fans.

Ledesma wouldn't be a popular choice, understandably so, but in terms of pure leadership, would be a good choice, but yes, could go to better players, for sure.

I think it will be a decision between Rocchi and Pandev. Somewhere online I read that most anticipate Pandev will get it because of Rocchi's age and that Lotito recently tied down Goran for a few more years at the club - so wants to show him that he is very important for us. I would love to see Rocchi as capitano but I would be equally happy with Pandev!

well, Rocchi is our captain for now, there are no strong argument against this fact.. but the problem is, Rocchi (and De Silvestri) won't be attend at the first few games of Serie A, therefore we need someone that replace him for a while...

I'd say.. Pandev.. he has shown his loyalty to us

Well i think the team need to change its attitude. And I do think that De Silvestri will be a great captain in the future. Problem with rocchi is that he isn't always focused. I'll go for Carrizo. It will signal a change and that is what the team needs.

There is no big difference Giolazio from that of LF, Rocchi and De Silvestri rules.

I agree, but I also think that there are other problems with Rocchi, especially after an unfolding of events.

1. We have 3 top strikers: Pandev, Rocchi and Zarate. Pandev will continue improving, Zarate could become one of the best in the world and Rocchi has peaked and after a year or so, he can only get weaker with age. Is Rocchi a regular starter in the long-term?
2. He has gone to the olympics, will miss the first couple of games I would think, while the rest of the team have been playing together all summer. Now I can't blame him for going to the olympics but the team has changed dramatically since he last played for us and I wonder how well he can lead a team made up of players AND people he doesn't know?
3. As you have already said Lerneby, he isn't the focused, prizefighter that some fans proclaim him to be. I have seen him come of the subs bench on a few occasions and he could not lift the side at all. His mind also wanders in some games.

you see, I love the guy, BUT, if there was a more natural leader in the team, then Rocchi would not get captaincy. My feeling is Rossi will rotate the captaincy while Tomasso is away and the candidates are probably Pandev, Cribari, Siviglia, Dabo and Manfre.

Well, I am pretty sure that Rossi would not give it to a new player like Carrizo. We have seen Siviglia and even Manfredini wear it, indicating that experience in the team is pretty important. Giving it to Carrizo would be a drastic thing, and everyone would lift an eyebrow for that. If he aims for a young player, De Sulvestri is the only choice. I still think Rocchi is ok as a captain, but I would go for Dabo if I was Mister! He has everything needed (toughness, heart and also spent some years with us...only problem is that he is not Italian i think...) and as it seems now he will be a regular starter - something very important for a cap...

I often sense that "Rocchi"'s name is sacred in this forum, but it's good to see Lerneby, Cash and Weninho are on a similar wavelength as me at least...none of us are criticisng him as a person or a player, but as a captain, many of us have our doubts.

By the way, hello, I'm new here.
