Finally something good. When i saw this morning that Portsmouth and M'Borough are interested in Zarate i was like - No way!. Now, it's all good, we have Zarate for sure.

Btw, i'm finally rejoining the Laziofever family...

Portsmouth make late bid to trump Lazio for Zarate
tribalfooball.com - July 09, 2008

Portsmouth have made a late bid to wreck Lazio's deal for Argentine striker Mauro Zarate.
Rome sources say Pompey have been in contact with Zarate's Qatari club Al Sadd in a last ditch bid to trump Lazio and bring the striker back to England.

Lazio officials remain calm, however, insisting that their agreement with Al Sadd is secure.

Pompey must be loaded… They’ve made so many expensive signings…

But there is no need to worry… If you were Zarate would you choose:

Rome:

OR

Portsmouth:

I’m sure he has sense :)

Yeah he's an offensive all-rounder with both strong feet so you could use him behind the strikers or as a winger in a 4-1-3-2 formation Very Happy

What are these wild boars from Portsmouth thinking?I'm tired of these clubs like Pmouth,Chelsea etc who have no history, and if they got money they think they can buy everything. And if Zarate will be another Behrami case, then he better remains in Asia.

What I love about this the most is that he's young! When you're that young you take risks, you play balls out, you
give 110% ALL THE TIME! He WILL make a difference.

Zarate Kid: I Want Two Goals Against Roma

New Lazio signing Mauro Zarate is confident he can be a big hit in the Italian capital, and has set his sights on scoring two goals against Roma.

The Biancocelesti made their biggest signing of the summer when they snapped up the skillful 21-year-old from Al-Sadd in a deal that could eventually cost Lazio up to €25m.

The transfer has delighted Lazio President Claudio Lotito, who even declared that “Zarate is better than [Barcelona superstar] Lionel Messi."

Despite the pressure, the Argentine, who has already been nicknamed by some as ‘The Zarate Kid’, in reference to the famous martial arts film starring Ralph Macchio, is promising big things.

“I dreamed of playing in Italy and I am happy to have arrived at Lazio,” said Zarate.

“Plenty of teams wanted me, but no one made as much effort as the Biancocelesti. I want to repeat what I have done in Argentina and I aim to score two goals against Roma.

“I know that this can be a difficult environment but I’m not scared. I am a good dribbler, I can play from deep and I can exploit my pace.”

Zarate is the youngest of five footballing brothers, with the eldest, Sergio, playing in Italy with Ancona in the 1992/93 season.

What a hype surrounding this player!

I know that he's talented and such and had good scoring records in Argentina ( not phenomenal but pretty good). But the fact that he didn't score a galore of goals in Qatar and did not go on to become a key player in Birmingham (used in sparring irregularity according to channel 4), how can everyone be sure that he'll do great at Lazio? The video clips about what he did and can do is great, but he is not that proven yet. Sorry for being a pessimist but I'm really just trying to be realistic. Bianchi had a great hype too but we all know how that went.

he isn't proven yet but can I mention an name - Ezequiel Lavezzi for Napoli was even more unproven and he has turned out to be a fantastic player. i think and hope Zarate will have a similar impact

Zarate was very highly rated for what he did in the EPL, the time he did play he was very impressive.

Bianchi's time in England hurt him more than anything. he will come good, but it wont be at Lazio.
