Well, Fernandez may be the boy to put us in Top 4 contention. Only Inter, AC and Merda look really strong this year, Juve have made bad signings, in my opinion and Fiorentina haven't really got stronger.

I think if we can get some depth in the squad without having to sell, what I consider, important back ups like Siviglia, Meghni and Del Nero, then I think we've a chance of CL qualification.

Fernandez would take the squad to another level completely.

Caxi, I think rioma is inferior to us next year esp they didn't sign a quality player with the exception of the old Loria, out of form Rise and they lost Mancini to Inter, meanwhile Fiorentina did well in the market and if they suffered in Serie A next season it is mainly due to their CL participation.

Back to Fernandez, I have my doubts that he got the Italian citizenship?!?

I think we may be going the right way about this season with the attack-minded transfers and formation being implemented.

Italian defences have weakened. Fiorentina will suffer without Ujfalusi. We are not going to gain that deficit on Roma this season...I just can't see it happening, but if Fernandez goes through, you never know, he could make a big difference.

But really, there seem to be too many right-midfield options for us at the minute in this new formation, so should we assume that Fernandez will go ahead instead of Pinzi and that he will be used more centrally?

Or is it a case that Manfre may go?

I like Fernandez, I want it to go through, but we could have too much depth in some places then. Especially if Foggia really is staying.

There have been some confusing voices suggesting that Fernandčz had already obtained his Italian passport. However, those voices are not true and Fernandčz still doesnīt hold a community passport. This was confirmed by his agent Pablo Sabbag.

Fernandčz is still waiting for an answer to his appliance for the passport and with the signing of Matuzalem, he needs the passport in order to complete the transfer to Lazio...

Therefore nothing has really changed, except that there were some speculations that Lazio were no longer interested in Fernandčz after having signed Matuzalem.

However, most rumours suggest we are still after him and Lazio is his preferred destination. The only thing missing is the passport. I think that is the most likely situation at the moment.

That is even if Sabbag also said he was never asked by Lotito about Fernandčz availability, but probably those words could also be another way to tell Lotito to make up his mind since many other clubs are interested. And those clubs are not delayed by the passport issue. Panathinaikos being the most serious contenders.

A meeting between Lazio and River is scheduled in the coming days...

Ah ok, my bad. As you mentioned, some reports claimed he got the passport. Apologies, in any case.

this guy is an attacking midfielder, do we really need him anymore??

I realise he is very good and better than a few of our players, but we have plenty in that position now.

Last I heard, Mauri was liked by Torino, if we manage to offload him and get Fernandez, it would be a good move. In any case, we have Mauri and Meghni in the trequarista role, it wouldn't hurt to have 1 more since we do not want to find ourselves in the same precarious position as last season, suffering badly from injuries.

of course but we dont want to have 3 or 4 players who can play the trequartista role and be short defensively.

we still need a mediano, and the loss of Mudy mkes that more urgent.'

I'm hoping Lotito and Rossi have it all well planned.

Only Foggia, Meghni and Mauri can be employed in the trequarista role. If we are to play with 3 strikers, we will only have Kozak, Pandev, Makinwa and Zarate available come August. 4 strikers are not going to be enough to fit in the 3-4-3 formation. That is why I fancy Rossi to make use of the trequarista and shift to a 3-5-2 should the need arises. Foggia is extremely valuable because he can play behind the strikers or he can be employed as a winger in the 3 strikers role.

The way I see it, a replacement for Mudy is not needed. We already have Firmani and Dabo in that position. And on top of that, we have Mutarelli and Matuzalem who we could shuffle around. With that, there is a confirmed place for Ledesma too.

we also have Del Nero and to a lesser extent Manfredini. I know these guys are not anywhere near as good as the others, and Manfredini is not a natural trequartista, but the squad is large considering we olny have the league to play in.

i agree with you on your other points, our side is looking very versatile, last season we ran out of options quickly.

Foggia will make a big difference, his only real worry for me is how he gets on with Rossi and the team because he caused a major bust up in Cagliari last season and has a track record of trouble dating back to his time with Ascoli. If he has no personal problems though, we have a player of international quality.

the reason I say a new mediano, I am assuming Mutarelli is not in our plans. If he is then no problem, any new signing would only be a reserve, unless Pinzi arrives.

Matuzalem is a player who plays as a link from defence to attack i believe, something else we needed. This should free up Ledesma a lot.

I still believe we could use another central defender, if only to add depth.

I havent felt this good about a Lazio side pre-season for a while.

Oh smelling as, in that case I don't see Fernandez coming to Lazio. I fear that we will have the same problem as last year with Carrizo. Passport not ready...

Yes we need, quality replacement of Behrami. Fernandez is that kind of player.
