being Irish, I can tell you that you need to move further afield than Dublin for the Irish experience.

Dublin is only half of Ireland and it's the ultimate representation of urban Ireland, but rural Ireland is diferent and better I think.

you need to see both sides to know what the Irish are about. non-Irish people's idea of the Irish is Dublin people, but that is not true at all.

Yeh I suppose, I meant "Irish" in the way that Dublin is like an ongoing party, which tends to suit most Irish people I meet, non stop fun! But ofcourse your right, you wouldn't get a true representation of the Scottish by going to Glasgow, you have to go up North to the Highlands and the Islands.

yes, exactly, I'm half glaswegian, but never been to Scotland. Everywhere in Ireland is like an ongoing party. yes, there are two sides to most countries, but I think most people imagine Ireland to be exactly like Dublin, which is not the case. I can't say everybody imagines France to be exactly like Paris or Italy to be exactly like Rome.

but of course, if you ever go to Italy, there's only one place for a laziale to go!

I think Rome was my favorite place, followed by Copenhagen. Barcelona was great, don't get me wrong, but we hardly had the energy for it in the three days we spent there. In Rome, I loved the people, the food and the way the city was laid out (i.e. alley way cafes & such). Copenhagen was the last city we hit so I was ready to kick back and take it easy. My brother went all around, looking for museums & sights but I simply wanted to take it easy and really be on vacation, if you know what I mean. No running around, no schedules, no deadlines, I just wanted to be in that city for the almost 4 days we stayed. So the laid back aspect of the city really suited me and the jazz festival going on there was the perfect event.

I did like Dublin, too. Another place where I didn't really do any sight-seeing, but just relaxed and enjoyed the city. I tipped back a few pints of Guinness, slept late and just wondered around the city. We went to the Guinness factory, of course, which was nice, especially the top portion where you can see the entire city. Great times, really.

haha, the typical Dublin experience for tourists involves a trip to the Guinness factory!!! every tourist I've met in Dublin has been there.

and yes, the guinness is what they all miss when they leave.

I'm in the same position as you Mafalda, I'm in a country where it's always cold, in fact, it's 20 degrees today and that is warm for me!!!

The only place I've ever been outside my own country is Paris. It looks like I'll be working to get the money to travel, but I'm also a student, studying for exams, I'm at home now, nothing to do, but no money to go anywhere!

no problem on the merging, I guess it fits perfectly here, now that I see it!

it really is quite bizarre, I think he is actually being replaced before any game has started.

if anybody has more details on this, please post them.

Good news, glad everything has worked out okay. I was slated to have that same surgery on my left knee a few yrs back, then it turned out it was nothing but growing pains. Thank goodness I didn't go under the knife for that. Anyways, hope your son has a speedy recover and is back on the pitch as soon as possible!

I was just on youtube and watched Paolo Di Canio's goal against Milan over a decade ago. I really liked it so just posting it here.... reminds of the Goran Pandev goal against Juventus in season 04/05.

Grande Paoletto!!!!

I think Pandev was inspired by Paoletto when he scored that magic goal against Juve.
Brilliant one!
