Well, i'm glad everyone got to see a good game. I thought the French / Romanian game was boring!!!

I am awaiting the France / Italy game! Should be exciting. Hopefully...a better display.

I don't understand Donadoni. What the hell Panucci, Di Natale and Camoranesi are doing in the starting line up? Del Piero and Grosso were fantastic when they come in.. And Holland was very lucky today. first goal was clear offside. And in a second half Van der saar made incredible saves..

And Ambrosini? I thought De Rossi should play in his position, but Donadoni loves his milanista players that sucked the whole season.

Loving the way Holland played. That's what I want to see.

It was an offside goal. Hungarian referee Sandor Puhl who has been elected as the best referee in the world 4 times said it was a clear offside and a mistake by the referee.

Di Natale has more than proved his worth in qualifying and in Serie A. Though I still don't agree with Panucci and Ambrosini on the pitch... they're gonna wish they had another attacking mid (Montolivo...).

Nonetheless, the dutch looked fantastic! Engelaar was great, as was Sneijder. Group of Death already looking very interesting with Italy at the bottom and France coming out with a scoreless draw. Though if it's anything like the WC, France shouldn't be worried.

I totally agree... Del Piero and Grosso were fantastic...and then Italy had some good chances.
And...yes-first goal was offside..

Also..we prooved that we have one of the best defense in the world. Benzema, Ribery, Anelka etc.. looked like kids (also Holland didnt scored against us in those 2 matches in qualifying group Wink).

In fact, it's not an offside:
Quote :
A defender who leaves the field in the course of play and does not immediately return must still be considered in determining where the second to last defender is for the purpose of judging which attackers are in an offside position. Such a defender is considered to be on the touch line or goal line closest to his or her off field position.

With or without the offside, Holland would beat Italy.

It is stupid of Donadoni to leave De Rossi out.

If Cannavaro was playing I would agree with Donadoni dicision for the tactic and maybe players... But lets face it... Barzagli cant answear Cannavaro shoes so in order to perform Italy should play attacking football.. Leaving the Best italian scorer on the bench was a bad decesion... Not taking Oddo was a very bad decesion.... Quagliarela not playing was a bad decesion.... Where was De Rossi....

It is not De Rossi alone! playing with a stupid defender like Matrix is quite stupid! I beleive that this player was never and will never be a good and reliable CB except in those few games he played in the WC, otherwise he is just so stupid!

Not to forget that big stupid player that he thinks himself as either Sandro or Cana in the defence, Brazaghli will never be a good defender too! It was a horrible to see last night Azzuri defense!

Playing for the expired Panucci a head of Grosso is another big mistake! not to forget the aging Milan midfielders that started the spot a head of either Aquilani or D Rossi!?

Cana get injured and this is not the end of the world, Gorigo Chelleni and even Legrottali were superup for Juve this year and they have a mutual understanding with Buffon as they played togather for 2 years, Don should have selected Legrotalli for the Azzuri inestead of Gamperini who will be a bench warmer!? Don was stupid in selecting his defence, ATM I would select Chelleni and Panucci as the 2 CB and I am quite sure they will be much more perfect for Italy!

Italy should start like this:

--------------------------Buffon----------------------
Zambrotta------------Chelleni-----------Panucci--------Grosso
---Aquilani/Ambrossini----Pirlo----------De Rossi-------
---------Del Piero-------------------Cassano----------
-------------------------Toni-------------------------------

Personally, I think Donadoni was scared that De Rossi was not quite 100% and decided to go with an all Milan crew that are used to playing with each other.
Wrong decision IMO, but I do think that's why he did it. It wouldn't suprise me if he stated something like - "Well, these boys have been playing all season together and with De Rossi not quite 100%, I thought I'd go with their experience and I love Milan."

Regardless...we just got owned!

Toni had some opportunities too, but Del Piero def. made a difference when he came in. He almost scored immediately!

Italy will beat Romania, the French will lose to the Dutch, the Italians and French will draw and the Dutch will beat Romania.

Netherlands and Italy will advance.

Despite losing 0-3, the French looked like absolute rubbish!!!

And who else will beat Romania ? I`m still waiting the day when we will concede a goal =)) .. so far neither Netherland, France or Russia scored against us in this last months.

...I know, but Milan players were totally of form throughout the season.
De Rossi was fantastic.

However, what I liked about Donadoni was when he inserted Grosso and let him play freely on the left.
That made a huge impact.

Agree with you 100%, Amir. I think Donadoni more or less said - well, these Milan players all know each other and even if Milan sucked this year, might as well go with them since they have chemistry together.

Clearly, they sucked, just like Milan did all season.

I think Italy will rebound nicely against Romania.

Italy's strongest weapon was always the defense and now ... there is no defense :) that is the problem :)

The defender left the field due to injury as he got punched in the face. In such case he's not considered to be the last player but an injured player outside of the field and thus is not placed in the goal line. So in this case RvN was offside.
