PostSubject: what LAZIO should be looking to do   Fri May 23, 2008 4:44 pm

Quote :
Fiorentina haven’t graced Europe’s premiere club competition since 2000, their 3-3 draw against Bordeaux marked the end of their Champions League adventure and the beginning of an unbelievable tumble into Serie C2 that left their fans in a purple daze. Six years ago Fiorentina didn’t exist, they had no name, were abandoned by players and stripped of an illustrious 80-year history. The Gigliati’s two Scudetti, six Coppa Italias, and Cup-Winners Cup were gone, taken away by the sporting justices.

This makes the job done by Diego and Andrea Della Valle all the more remarkable. The family that bought Florentia Viola in 2002, who nurtured the club to good health and gave it back its identity, deserve a hell of a lot of credit for taking such a risk. They have made Fiorentina – an outfit renowned for its profligacy and largesse under the Cecchi Gori dynasty – into a model club.

A friend of mine who works for the Italian FA told me, in no uncertain terms, that Fiorentina are the best-run club in Italy – and it shows. While the Italian Press liken their practices to Arsenal, I believe the Viola have developed their own unique style. Their director of sport, Pantaleo Corvino, scours Europe and South America for fresh talent, but is equally enthusiastic about giving young Italians a chance in stark contrast to Europe’s other top clubs.

Fiorentina’s first team often features six players who could start for the Azzurri, and successfully blends the old with the new – Christian Vieri’s stint at the club has helped Giampaolo Pazzini as Fabio Liverani’s has Riccardo Montolivo.

This makeup clearly lent itself well to the Viola’s UEFA campaign, which ended somewhat unfortunately in the semi-finals, but that experience will stand them in excellent stead in next year’s Champions League, as will the sensible purchases of World Cup winners Andrea Barzagli and Alberto Gilardino. The Viola, in my opinion, are the best in the transfer market, they, unlike Juventus and Milan – see Amauri – buy players they need and have a shrewd wage structure.

But above all, I have been impressed by the values inculcated by Cesare Prandelli – the best Coach in the League – exemplified in the ‘Terzo Tempo’, the Fiorentina inspired fair-play initiative. The Viola’s honesty and endeavour this season has been as refreshing and satisfying as their victories at Juventus and Everton. They are my team of the season.

Lotito saved the club yes but now is killing it even more painfully with his management style

he should follow the example of Della Valle

mark my words, Fiorentina will be challenging for a scudetto, we have that potential but unless things change and risks are taken we stay where we are now

fresh blood needed at the club

The Delle Valle brothers should be the blue print for how a team should be run. Smart transfers and good investments! But I think the Delle Valle's have more money than Lotito which is why he's not really up to the job!

Yep, they're the dark horse of Italian football for a years to come..

Well structured, well prepared, good organisation (even with salary caps, which is around 1.5 million euro if I'm not mistaken), and an owner who willing to invest money in a club.. Damn, I wish we had that type of president No

For me probably more important is that we have to change the atmosphere around the club. There are to many problems with tifosi, Lotito etc.

Congratulations for Viola and Prandelli boys of their outstanding season!

Fiorentina in general is a great model that Lotito (and every one in Lazio including the coach and players) should follow.

I am really speechless once I comapre us to them!

Hello to everyone and first of all thank you to every people who work hard to run this site again.

I agree Fiorentina is a good example, Lotito needs to hear people if he wants to be president a vita like he said in other times.

PostSubject: Re: what LAZIO should be looking to do   Mon May 26, 2008 3:39 pm

Florentia is nothing but a coward club, taking the easy way out of all their problems.

Their current structure is admirable though. However, they also appointed established people like Pantaleo Corvino to run the show. One of the very best directors in Italy. To appoint people like him is just not possible with Lotito for many reasons. Not to mention that the Della Valle family have much more ressources available than Lotito could ever dream of.

My personal opinion is that Lazio will never move marginally forward with Lotito at the helm !!

But of course, short term solutions are very welcome in our current situation because currently Lazio is one big mess.

There exist no transparent and clear communication, internal with the players and external with fans and press and I believe the lack of strategy is the main point for most of our problems. Disharmony in the dressingroom, no fans at the stadium, generally a terrible atmosphere around the club.

More worringly is that Lotito doesn´t admit that these problems are a result of his management. Rather he blames the poor results only on Delio Rossi and the players. Rossi has so far been confirmed as Lazio´s manager also in the coming season, but undoutedly his position and respect have been weakened a lot since it has been obvious that Lotito was looking elsewhere.

Then we have the ongoing investigations against Lotito and Mezzaroma which the TAR will decide in the month of July...

We are now approaching the summer mercato without a General Manager. Sabatini officially left the club, although formally he won´t leave until next month. Many rumours are occuring about Lazio appointing a new General Manager with Caira and Di Santo being the most likely names at the moment, but aren´t they just figures like Gabriele Martino and Carlo Osti used to be ? I think so...

What are we going to do in the mercato...

Fernando Muslera
Sebastiano Siviglia
Guglielmo Stendardo
Mobido Diakité
Manuel Belleri
Ricardo Bonetto
Gaby Mudingayi
Fabio Firmani
Roberto Baronio
Mourad Meghni
Christian Manfredini
Simone Inzaghi
Igli Tare
Stephen Makinwa

The point is that we have a lot of players who have already prooved they are not good enough to help Lazio progress any further, but since our management (read Lotito) signed 4 and 5 year contracts with almost all of them, they are stuck in Lazio. No other club want them and they don´t really want to leave.

Then we can add all the "youngsters" coming back from loan spells in serie C and the problems concerning the contracts of Pasquale Foggia, Valon Behrami, Goran Pandev and Cristian Ledesma.

We were many that pointed out these problems in the past and that they would occur sooner or later. When you have so many players that are useless, you are also bound to get internal problems within the squad and this is the first problem that must be solved before the new season. It seems to me that most of our mercato will be going on inside Lazio rather than on the market...

Viola is one step close to sign Varagas (one of the best Serie A players) and Ferrari to add them to the already signed Gila!!

The msg is clear: Once you get this lucky chance to play in the CL, reinforce your teams in the way Viola is doing currently instead of signing Venrgoli, De Nero, Meghni, Scaloni and Muslera! after 1 year of their sigining we can not find a single minor club to take them!

CRAZIE LOTITO!

Vargas, Palladino, Tavano... and the list still goes on and on... they are one step closer to join Gilardinho as the new players of La Viola...
they are doing everything for CL. Suspect Suspect Suspect

It makes me remember last year, La Viola like we were last year, and what were we doing back then? Bought Del Nero, Scaloni, Meghni, Muslera and kicking out Foggia... No No No

If lotito had followed the example of Della Valle, we would not be discussing about S.S. Lazio 1900, the club that brought football in Rome.

Della Valle waited for Fiorentina to go bankrupt before taking over the club for a ridiculous amount of money. They started from scratch, no debts at all, zero. Everyone knew that in the "short run" Fiorentina would have taken advantage of this with regard to other teams, such Lazio and Parma, still "in the shit".

About lotito, he belongs exactly to the same kind of opportunistic men as Della Valle (lotito was forced to take over Lazio to avoid bankruptcy), but differently from him our "moralizzatore" (de sta ceppa) showed he is not able to manage a serie A club.

--------------

translate someone please.

But from what i can read, if things go against lotito, then he would have to leave as president. right.

I think the political figures out there will realise that its best to get rid of Lotito as he is no use to our club and italy economy. Lazio is a big club and Lotito just doesnt know how to run.

yes I realise that Della Valle waited for Fiorentina to die before he brought the club back to the top but since their return Fiorentina has been managed very well

large attendances, good success in Europe, big players joining them. what they are doing is what Lotito needs to do.

I think Lotito should expand Lazio to Asia.
Look at what ManUtd did.
A lot of potential here (fans and offcourse: MONEY).
India, China, Japan, Mid Eastern, etc...
He can find a suitable player (not necessary in first team) and bring us some sponsors from big Asia company.

Remind me, have we ever had an Asia player in our primary team?
I'm sure it's not hard to find a cheap (Lotito style) but young and skillful player to replace some clowns in our team.
Just one man, and we can catch World's interest! And this means money money money...
So Lotito, time to look to the east!
