PostSubject: Midfield Dilemma   Mon Oct 27, 2008 1:49 pm

I think one of our dilemmas is midfield. Ledesma? In my opinion he is a little overrated.
His pass is too incorrect and his shot is useless. Moreover, I can't find any passion from
him although i know he doesn't wanna remain with us.
Brocchi is a good fighter, but it is all. Dabo should replace Brocchi, but he is not on form.
And....Mauri e Foggia. Their pass & ball control are inaccurate too.

Ledesma and Brocchi have looked like a good fit at times. Should we get Ledesma back to form, I think we are fine with Ledesma and then Brocchi/Dabo. The issue I have is we need someone better than Mauri to be the creator. I think Ledesma has had to sacrifice himself a bit because we haven't had Matuzalem or Meghni in the team. Neither are fit enough to be the solution. I guess that could make Fernandez the solution but for me, in the long term, Marchisio is the fit. He is the one we should be looking at getting in.

First,we should clarify things with Ledesma. If he wants to leave, get him out from here.If he wants to remain, then sign a new contract. We don't want another mercenary(behrami)!I think he's mind is not at Lazio, that's the reason why he's so poor. And the midfield dilemma is a problem, which comes also from Rossi.

Good times when Ledesma was focused and scored that amazing goal against merda when we beat them 3-0...

Everyone who scores against Merda obvisouslly get's loved by the fans... but really Ledesma haven't had one good game this season. I'm not saying he is a bad player but he doesn't play very good at the moment. Maybe the reason is that he wants to leave and dont play with passion but I think the main reason is that he know Rossi will always play him so he doesnt have to work hard to not be benched. When Matuzalem/Meghni is back we should play Dabo, Brocchi with one of them then maybe Ledesma realize he have to work harder.

I think Matuzalem could do a good job for Lazio in the central midfield position. When he gets back from injury I want him subbed in for Ledesma for a few games to see how he does and hopefully this will push Ledesma to play better and earn his spot. And as mentioned previously, Meghni is another option down the middle. The right is well covered by Brocchi and Dabo and the left has Foggia, Mauri and Manfredini so I think the midfield is fine - in terms of numbers, but when players are injured it definitely causes problems for Rossi. Also Firmani and Del Nero are midfielders.

When are all the injured players returning.... any rough time frames? Thanks!

I too think that Matuzalem could be our answer to a more creative midfield. We have been relying on Ledesma as the pole of this Lazio, we even made a player who does not want to stay at Lazio a captain and give him every single possible responsibility. It is obvious we haven't learnt from our mistakes.

A midfield trio of Meghni Matuzalem and Brocchi would be really nice to have. Rossi must dare to bench Ledesma, he must already know that he will never be benched unless he is suspended or injured.

You have to know one thing:

In the way Lazio plays overall, Ledesma is the key figure.
He is the one that makes the connection between the defense and trequartista and then attackers.

Without Ledesma, the entire system falls down, because that is how Delio Rossi constructed this team.
Basically, we are Ledesma dependent and when he does not have a good match, the entire team suffers.

The alternatives: there are none, because we do not have a player in the team with such characteristics.

I think Matuzalem is going to be used like Ledesma if he leaves / injured. Unfortunately he's injured and therefore cannot adapt that well yet. I think sometimes Dabo is tried here too?

Yeah, I think so too. Really want to see Matuzalem tested as our regista in the future.

nobody can replace ledesma at this moment, unless we can buy in some players with the same traits.

C'mon.. Ledesma is not Zidane or Kaka... and even Pirlo is replaceable these days... the problem is Mr. Rossi always put his tactics depending on Ledesma ability..

Just don't use tactics that depend on him!! You know what.. even Rozehnal can play as a Defensive Midfielder!!

The problem is Mr. Rossi relying the tactics on Ledesma too much!! and not anybody else.. and that what makes Ledesma being a bighead!!

Ledesma is a good player.. but not all the time... relying on Ledesma too much will make the other midfielders and the defenders lazy.. they don't run to chase the ball everywhere like Ledesma does all the time..

Unfortunately sobat, Rossi doesn't have too many variation in his tactics. Throughout his time in Lazio and Lecce too I think, he always depends on a player like Ledesma (actually always Ledesma) to make plays from the middle. But I agree. Ledesma is not indispensable. Let's hope Lottito focus on an equal replacement for Ledesma and not a half assed job like Muslera for Peruzzi.

Ledesma & Mauri have been the worst players until now.
After they were out, our performance was better.
Ledesma couldn't play at the next match. This would be a good chance for us.
We should try to make our football without Ledesma.
Rossi should use Meghni or Dabo as a Ledesma's replacement.

C'mon you guys be real. Who do we have after all. We have no wingers, we have no defense midfilders we don't have playmakers. This is our mid, so whats the dillema to buy new one ....... Thats not a dilema. We have Mauri Ledesma Fogia Brocchi Mehni and thats our mid. half of them suck and I'll kick them off so we need solid and good midds to buy.

Any news about Matuzalem?
Ledesma is a necessity IMO, he just needs to focus on Lazio and nothing else!
our midfield isn't bad at all this season, especially from the attcking point of view..
the real dilemma is in the defence!
