Diego Simeone has resigned as manager of River Plate:

So the natural successor to Delio (in my opinion) is now available. What do we all think?

I'd like him to get more experience before taking control of Lazio, but I do think the next manager will be either him or Sinisa Mihajlovic.

It's very rare that a manager with no experience in Italia, succeeds on the first shot. Any calcio enthusiast will say that coaching in Italy is different and more difficult than anywhere else.

That aside, I have no problem with Delio and still think he's the man for the job at the present time.

Will be interesting to see if he makes the move to Italy anytime soon.

River were s**t hot when he first took over. I don't know what went wrong of late.

With time Diego could step in and take over, but not yet. I do not think Rossi is doing a bad job and at the moment I see no reason to rush him out of Lazio. When time is right, Diego will come and have some years with us. I would like to see him get some experience in Europe before taking over Lazio...

I think its good to have someone "our" as a manager, like Sinisa or Diego, but not in the middle of the season. Rossi can work this year and finaly show what he can. Also this guys need to get little more expiriense in managing, maybe one year in seria-b will get make them level up:)

As much as I love Simeone, it could be no more than a more glamorous Domenico Caso mistake at this point. Experience is everything at this level though I would certainly love Diego in the future!

No.

No way should Simeone be Lazio manager which the credentials he has right now. He has led River Plate which is one of the biggest clubs in Argentina to their worst run in their history. They are bottom of the table. That is like Milan being bottom of the Serie A.

That is totally inexcusable. It is unacceptable. I like River Plate but even I cringe when watching them, play this season.

I hope River Plate move up as they are a great club which don't deserve to be bottom of the league. I haven't seen even highlights of them recently but from some reports I have read it didn't seem like they were playing the best possible football. Its sad that Diego resigned and I hope he gets some more experience. I would like to see him in Spain or Italy as that is where he played a majority of his career - as well as his native Argentina. I hope both him and the club get back up fast. Forza Simeone!!!!
