PORTA PIA
Ok. It's time to write down some final information, mainly for you that hasn't been to Rome before or doesn't feel familiar with the city. Most of you probably know it already, but someone might fint this useful.
TRANSPORTATION
Fiumicino (Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci)
Major transportation to the city is by the Leonardo Express-train that departs two times an hour, from early morning to late evening. Tickets can be bought in machines with Credit-card and should be around 11,00€ per person. Travel time to Stazione Termini (Romes central station) is about 30 minutes with no stops.
Ciampino
Major transporation is by the buss-company Terravision. You can often buy tickets on the airplane or in the airport. The price is about 8€ one-way and 13,50€ both ways. Terravision has about 20 departures every day, and the ride to via Marsala (near Stazione Termini) should take around 40 minutes.
Taxi
If you compare the price for a Taxi in Rome from where I come from it's much cheaper. But then I don't know how things are in your countries. Try to always negotiate a price if you're going for a longer ride. From the airports the ride should definately not cost more than 50€. It's an advantage if you understand the language, then you'll be able to strike more deals.
Bus
Busses are the most comman way of transportation in the city center. There are information plates at every stop where you can see all the stops for all the different lines, but don't always count on the bus arriving in time and always have a ticket ready when you step on it. You're supposed to buy a ticket in a newspaper stand or tobacco store, which you then stamp in a machine on the bus. There are one-way tickets, valid for 75 minutes, at the cost of 1€ and also solutions for one day, one week, one month and three months. Personally I always buy a one-way ticket when I decide to go by bus.
Metro
There are two Metro-lines going through the city, red and blue. The ticket system is the same as with the busses. Last time I checked, the trains stops departure at 24.00 every night.
LAZIOFEVER MEETING POINT
Piazzale di Porta Pia
The café will be impossible to miss once you get there. You can tell that you’re on the right place if you see a big statue in the middle of a very busy street with many cars. The café is located just face to face with a news stand. From here the Bandana Bar, where the dinner is arranged, is just around the corner.
LAZIO STORES
There are two major stores, if you don’t wish to go to Valmontone, 50km outside the city…
Original Fans
This store is located at Via Farini, within walking distance from Stazione Termini. The store is not official but yet provides official product and tickets from SS Lazio.
Lazio Cento
This store is located close to the Stadio Olimpico, near Piazza Mancini. It’s an official store providing only official Lazio-products. Don’t go there matchday, the line will be very long…
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Yes, many.
