HSV... I don´t know... One classy striker (Olic) is imo not enough...
until today they just signed Pitriopa from Freiburg.
Hamburger need a classy striker and genius midfielder.

Wolfburg: Quite impressive! Benaglio, Costa, Barzagli, Zaccardo, Josue,
Misimovic, Marcelinho, Dzeko, Grafite, and maybe
one of di Natale/Iaquinta/Quagliarella... If this squad keeps what it promises....

04: Finally your Schalker buy quality instead of quantity.
I´m tired seeing Müller & Friends wasting money mediocre south americans...
Engelaar and Farfan look like smart signings

Bayern: Well, they want to rock the Champions League. But so far they´ve „just“ signed
Borowski. If they want to, they should go for a central midfielder LIKE Xavi.

Im asking myself where Hoffenheim and Cologne will end up.

HabenSieVerloren needs another Drogba-type of a striker since their coach is more defensive minded, I think their offense needs to figure out themselves on how they could score. I think they already have enough midfilders, well at least with names.

With VW, I don't know how soon Magath will get the chemistry will all the imported players.

This is the first time in ages that Die Knappen got a great deal to great players. I just don't know how the second goalie will hold off until Neuer comes back.

Hoffenheim with Rangnik, and Die Geisböcke with Daum will surely make their clubs stay.
Glaedbach seems to go along with their coach as well.

Every time van der Vaart is injured a quality-vacuum occures in the offensive midfield.
The only option for this spot was Trochowski who is nothing compared to VDV.
I dunno if Pitroipa might fill this gap.

Magath is already disappointed by Zaccardos training-performance.

I think the top 3 in the Bundesliga this year will be Schalke, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, in that order.

So long as van der Vaart's at HSV, I think they can contend, but to break the top three I think they need some reinforcements. But who knows, van der Vaart has been known to work magic.

Hope Stuttgart have a good season.... they have always been my favourite German team and have always had a good squad in my opinion.
Also Balakov played there and is a legend there, they have Bulgarian youngsters there once in a while and I have family who live just outside of Stuttgart! Very Happy

Go VfB Stuttgart!!!!

Btw could someone post some derbies that Germany has, or bitter rivalries or something like that.... just curious.
I know Dortmund - Schalke and I assume Bayern - TSV and a few others but some more please Surprised

Rivalry/Derby

HSV - Werder Bremen
HSV - St. Pauli
Frankfurt – Offenbach
Hannover – Braunschweig
Stuttgart – KSC
Köln - Leverkusen
Köln – Gladbach
Bayern – Nürnberg
Hertha – Schalke
Arminia – Bochum
Gladbach – Dortmund
Schalke – Essen
Dortmund - Gladbach

A small range with a least one BuLi club.
Of course there are countless more in lower leagues.
If you are a friend of the third half or just looking for trouble
you should join one of these matches.

I'm watching a BVB-Juventus friendly on DSF, Juve is 2-0 ahead in the 70th minute.

The most interesting thing abou the match is the attendance, over 50,000 ppl. and it's a friendly.

If it wasn't for the heat and the holidays I guess it could have been about 75.000 in attendance. My guess is Bayern first, then Bremen and Schalke. Hamburg, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Dortmund and Leverkusen will fight for the other two spots in Europe. I think Bielefeld and Cottbus will relegate for sure, Gladbach will have a tough time to stay in, as will Köln. Hoffenheim might surprise.

I saw the first half of BVB-Juve and such an attendance for a friendly is really impressive,
no matter if 40000, 50000 or 75000 spectators

Lehmann retires
VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has announced that he will retire from international football.

The decision came after talks with national team coach Joachim Löw and goalkeeping coach Andreas Köpke.

Three World Cups

The 38-year-old and the coaches agreed that the time has come for younger goalkeepers to take over, with the 2010 World Cup in South Africa in mind.

Lehmann had been involved in three World Cups and three European Championships with Germany.

"A fascinating and unique experience"

He had played 61 matches for the DFB team since making his debut against Oman in 1998.

"I couldn't guarantee the coach that I will still be playing football in 2010. So I suggested that Löw and Köpke plan without me. It's been a great time in the DFB team, especially the 2006 World Cup was a fascinating and unique experience for me", Lehmann declared.

So who's next? Enke (H96; 31y)? Adler (Bayer; 23y)? Neuer (S04; 22y)? Hildebrand (Valencia; 29y)? or even Rensing (Bayern; 24y)?

That is sad for Lehmann. He is a good GK but Germany have good players that can also do a good job. I like Adler and Neuer and perhaps they will be given more opportunities now.

I think with VDV departing from Hamburg they could either have a really good or really bad season. He is a very good player no doubt and surely will be a big loss for them this season both in Germany and in Europe, but at the same time with him leaving perhaps they could play and achieve better results. This has been proven with other players in other teams over the years and this could be no different although I do think he has been quite an integral part of the HSV team over the last few seasons.

HSV 2-2 Bayern 65th Minute

This is interesting, Bayern really fell apart here after they got the lead. HSV playing with a lot of heart, Olic has been a workhorse up front, winning balls left and right.

Yeah Ola (Ivica Olić) is like that. It's amazing to see how much he works, how much of the time he spends on the pitch making those runs. I don't know many strikers who have such a work rate. Kuyt maybe because Benitez makes the poor guy run his ass off.
