I like this league a lot.

Favourite team is Benfica.

Just after watching Benfica held 1-1 at home to Maritimo on ESPN.

Benfica had over 35 efforts on goal.

My friend Keirrison was an un-used sub.

Cardozo & Saviola played up-front.

Nuno Gomes was the first sub on up-front.

Not happy about this, Keirrsion was sent there to get experience, not warm the bench.

It took subsitute Weldon to bail them out 3 minutes from time..

Cardozo missed a penalty also.

A Game were he really could have been the diffrence.

Anyway, Benfica really do look a top notch team, so much quality, and stregth in depth.

The 3 big teams (Porto, Benfica & Sporting) all held 1-1 on the opening matchday.

From Portugal I also like Benfica. Good team and tradition.

They used to show European football highlights every week here in NZ a few years ago, always showing the Portuguese, French, Scottish, Dutch leagues amongst others, and that's how I started to slightly follow the league.

When I was back in Bulgaria a few months ago I got back into following it again. There's a lot of quality present.

Porto are a top team and have performed incredibly well domestically and in Europe over the last few seasons so they have canceled out both Lisbon teams from achieving much. But like you said Bridge-Bhoy, Benfica have a very good squad this season with the additions of Saviola and Keirrison; Porto have sold key players like Lisandro, Cissokho and Lucho Gonzalez; Sporting have also invested with players like Caicedo; so it makes for an interesting season. Last season the surprise for me was Leixoes. They had a terrific season (at least the first half).

I follow what happens in Portugal closely because I genuinely think they hold more quality than people think. The only problem I have is deciding who to support Very Happy

There's one thing I admire particularly about Porto and that's their ability to remain top dogs in Portugal and a frontrunner in Europe despite selling a team and having to buy a new one every couple of years. For me, they are the leading example in world football of how to play the market and go about your business. They buy 10 or so players, they loan them out to other teams, they sell their star men for big bucks and at that point, the loanees are good enough to win the league. Never fails to impress me.

Definitely. Porto have a good system going. Always producing and finding talented youngsters. Similar style to Lyon's.

True Porto replacing Lisandro Lopez with Radamal Falcao Garcia, Columbian striker, a star in the making, scored on his league debut yesterday. They replaced Lucho Gonzalez with Fernando Belluschi. While the excellent Jorge Fucile replaces Aly Cissokho at full back, Fucile has been at Porto for a few years and has performed well, but was injured for most of last season.

The Benfica midfield is amazing.

Carlos Martins-Pablo Aimar-Javi Garcia-Angel Di Maria.

Even having the strength to leave out Confederations Cup star Ramires. Also an un-used sub yesterday.
