PostSubject: Re: Veron could be back?   Thu Jan 08, 2009 3:22 pm

ok, heres my loose translation of an interview on LAZIALITA.it

seems like he really has the passion to return, even after what Lotito said

never discount anything

NON MOLLARE MAI!!

VERON: "LAZIO, I'LL RETURN

The midfielder, hero of the second biancoceleste scudetto and recent winner of the argentine Golden Ball relaunches the idea of a possible return to Lazio: "I would like to return and experience other beautiful moments"

The idea may be realized soon. Its the same Veron who grows in the dreams of the tifosi. Juan Sebastian Veron and Lazio, a love that continues.
In a long interview with Corriere dello Sport, the argentine talent opens the doors for a possible return to the capital.

Do you know what Lotito said?
"I was pleased and surprised. Its a motivaton to go forward and believe in what I do every day."

Veron at Lazio! It seems like a crazy idea, it can become reality. What do you think? Can you return to Rome? ..
"As soon as my wife heard she said "it would be beautiful." Rome is a fantastic city to live in and I still have a lot to give. When I left, some thought "Veron is finished as a player" and I had physical problems. What's said though is one thing, things don't always happen that way ... I felt the need to go back home to Argentina. So much time had passed since I first left, I was very young."

How are you today Veron?
"I feel good, I feel full of life and Imhappy. I am hungry for football like I'm 20 years old. I have a deal with Estudiantes til June with an option for another year, but I repeat, I don't close the door on anyone."

The fans of Lazio call for your return.
"The biancocelesti always made me feel at home even when I returned to Olimpico wearing other jerseys. My family has also remained linked to the city, to the experience, to those wonderful years."

Would return to Rome?
"Decisions are not easy to make, but certain feelings help you make them."

If some other clubs called, what would you say?
"There offers that I;ve received are from America and Brazil, I have spoken. But no offer can interest me like the one from my home or from Lazio. I'll always remember those laziali moments. I would like to return to experiences more, perhaps many, maybe even more beautiful."

Not even Lotito can be stupid to say no to Veron, if he actually is a realistic capture. He would not only be a dream to see wearing our shirt again, but imagine the impact he could have on the likes of Ledesma and Zarate. Specially Ledesma would learn that he is already at the best club there is, how to improve his game, become more consistent and last but not least it would be a further reason for Argentinian players to choose us when looking for a move to Europe. I wanted him to join us before he went back to Argentina, I was sure that he would be able to find his game again, but maybe the time there was exactly what he needed. The fact that his wife also seems very fond of Rome and Lazio doesnt make things worse.

I can understand people saying Veron is to old etc, but he would be perfect for us. We would have a very strong midfield, a tiny bit of harmony would be found between Lotito and fans again, and as I stated above he would add experience, something that we really need to be able to develop as a team.

Besides the fact that Veron is my favourite player EVER in the history of football and so naturally I have always wanted him to return to Lazio no matter what age he is and how good he is at the moment - I too have always remained 100% certain that he can still impact the team and club in a very important way both on and off the field which can only bring positives for Lazio.

He loves the club, his family does too, he would not demand much of a salary, he is unbelievably loved here, he still is the man at the age of 33 - he got called up to the Argentinian NT last year I believe and he just recently won 'South American Footballer of the Year' - which surely means he is still playing at a very, very high and respectable level. Apart from that there is his presence, his experience, leadership, technique, I could go on and on and on.... if he really is keen to return and I guess he is as he has always stated it - then Lotito should ring him up in a second and negotiate and bring him back to the Olimpico!

Oh man if Juan returns.... I don't know what I would do. Firstly it would be hard to believe, but how insane and unreal it would be to have a legend and unbelievably talented footballer play at Lazio again....

Dammit Lotito, frickin bring back the legend 'La Brujita'!!!!

And as a businessman it would only do wonders for sales of Lazio merchandise and tickets.... heck I would order my Veron shirt online within seconds of seeing a photo of Juan with Lotito and Rossi announcing Lazio's capture of him and presented to the media.

Oh man this would be the best transfer for Lazio that Lotito could ever pull off!!!!

FORZA VERON!!!!
FORZA LAZIO!!!!

Lotito said we should have to get rid of someone if we want Veron.
It means we already have three Non-EU players.
Who are Non-EU players in our squad? I wanna know.

Nah Radu is romanian and Romania is in EU. Carizzo-Agentina, Kolarov-Serbia, Matuzalem-Brasil and Makinwa-Nigeria. Now I think Carizzo, Matuzalem or Makinwa must have a dual citizenship... which one I can't remember.

Also Goran Pandev, dont think Macedonia is comunitario

but there is no restrictions on the number of non-EU in the squad, the limit is on non-EU signings per season.

so Lazio each season can sign only a maximum of 2 players without an EU passport. This season we've signed 2 already so Veron must wait until 09-10 season.

Africa have an agreement with the EU that they are considered the same as EU, so Makinwa doesn't count.

I've done a bit of revising on the Non-EU rule and yes, we can now bring in 2 Non-EU players per season. HOWEVER, in order for two come in, one Non-EU player must depart. So if we sign Veron, it means we must sell Carrizo or Kolarov if we want another Non-EU player.

Matuzalem and Pandev must have dual citizenship, well, Goran must have anyway.

Hallelllujaaaa !!!

Veron was the best player ever ! If only he could come back, eventhough I know he is old now and won't play for long but still....

Now I understand Lotito's dig at old players who betrayed us (Mancini as a coach, Stankovic, Favalli, etc...)

But this is Veron !!!

I will travel to Rome if Veron comes back to sing for him in the stadium on the tunes of Go West !!! Those were amazing days !

IF Veron is an option. and I say IF, then the passport issue is a very central question. I thought he held an Italian passport, but I dont have anything saying that he actually does. If Veron does not hold an EU-passport, it is very unlikely he would come back to us...

Most italian press have mentioned Veron is a Non-EU player. So let's face the reality.
Maybe we should get rid of Carrizo, Radu or Kolarov...... This is a very difficult problem...
If we shoud do it, I'll let Kolarov leave us on loan for a year.

Selling won't do a difference you can only buy two foreigners a year. We brought Carizzo and Matu

Yes Veron can come in June/July of course we have to sell all those players we're not using before we start buying new once we have a huge squad all on decent wages, guys like, Manfredini, Makinwa, Firmani are not needed anymore.

You can only have two non-eu players in your squad, and if someone could leave we could get Veron.
Even if we've already bought two non-eu players. Which players are non-eu in our current squad?
Carizzo and Matuzalem? I thought Matuzalem had double citizenship?
Romania is an EU-country isn't it?

Kolarov and Carizzo should be our current non eu-players?
So we shouldn't get rid of any of these players for Veron. Let's wait until june to sign him!

I think, we can sign 2 non-EU players every season. And it doesn't mean that we need to sell someone to get Veron. (for example, look at Inter. No way that only two of they all south Americans (14 players) don't have Eu passport. IMO, we will be able to add two more "foreigners" to our squad next summer (Veron and Ivanovic Very Happy )

you do have to sell someone if you want to bring 2 non-EU players in. you have to sell a current player in your squad to sign 2 non-EU players every season.

Lotito books Veron reunion Saturday 17 January, 2009

Juan Sebastian Veron’s return to Lazio “is possible, but only from June onwards,” declared President Claudio Lotito.

Rumours and confirmation of their mutual interest in this reunion have been circulating for several days.

“We have contacted him,” confessed Lotito on RadioSei. “It must all be pushed back to June and then we’ll evaluate if he really is willing to make the move back to Rome.

“I can confirm that as far as we are concerned there is definitely interest in this transfer.”

Veron won the Scudetto with Lazio, but joined Manchester United for £28m in 2001 and has since played for Chelsea, Inter and Estudiantes.

The midfielder turns 34 in March and would be prepared to move now, but Lotito explains there are issues tied up with red tape.

“He is a non-EU player and so we would have to free up one of our spots by selling a non-EU member of our squad before we could sign him.”

Lotito rescued Lazio from bankruptcy and has constructed a relatively successful side with a very small budget, so he was naturally asked about Manchester City’s £107m offer for Kaka.

“Personally I believe that mere economic principles should not always take the upper hand. It must be said that the winning side is not always the one that spends the most, but the team that fights and believes in certain values.”

The fact Lotito says he has to free up a non-EU spot means he plans to bring in 2 non-EU players this summer.

I've read the non-EU rules and that's the only reason I can see for needing to free up a non-EU spot.

Which begs the question: who's the other guy coming in?
