PostSubject: Davis Cup 6-8 march   Fri Mar 06, 2009 2:38 am

This weekend we have the great tennis competition called "Davis Cup". I know that here are some tennis fans and it will be interesting to find out some of your opinions..

The matches are..

Argentina - Netherlands

Monaco/Chela/Ker/Arguello vs. Galung/Bakker/Middlekoop/Wassen

In my opinion this is not an interesting match .. Argentina will win for sure even though Nalbandian, Potro or Acasuso are not there.

Czech - France

Berdych/Stepanek/Hernych/Dlouhy vs. Simon/Tsonga/Gasquet/Llodra

I think this is the main match .. very interesting one. I think that France made a bad choice by letting Clement our of the picture..considering that Czech have a great double as well.

USA - Swiss

Roddick/Blake/Bryan/Bryan vs. Wawrinka/Bohli/Chiudineli/Allegro

As you can see.. Federer, once again, ran away from the Davis Cup. Pathetic ... another so called injury or something. Usa will have no issue as well and this turned out to be a boring match.

Sweden - Israel

Lindstedt/Aspelin/Vinciguerra/Johansson vs. Sela/Ram/Hadad/Levy

Sweden is not having the great player Soderling for this one...and Johansson is too old to fight alone. Also..Israel have a great double and Sela is very unpredictible. I`m sorry for the Swedish team..they were always great but now ... they doesent look very good at all.

Croatia - Chile

Cilic/Karlovic/Ancic/Karanusic vs. Massu/Capdeville/Hormazabal/Castillo

As you can see..Chile is without Gonzalez...so Croatia will have an easy win i believe.

Romania - Russia

Hanescu/Crivoi/Copil/Tecau vs. Safin/Youzhny/Tursunov/Gabasvili

We (Romania) can`t count for this one for Pavel (almost retired..now he`s our captain) and Mergea (out of form). Russia doesent look very scary ..Andreev and Davydenko are not present and Youzhny is out of form as well. It will be a very interesting one..even though Russia is favorite.

Germany - Austria

Schuettler/Kiefer/Kas/Kolshreiber vs. Melzer/Peya/Koubek/Knowle

Another interesting one as well. Austria beat in the previous round GBR (with Murray) and since Germany will not have Haas, the odds are 50-50 in my opinion.

Spain - Serbia

Nadal/Ferrer/Robredo/Lopez vs. Djokovic/Troicki/Tipsarevic/Zimonic

This is considered to be the match nr 1 this weekend and prolly it is (although i believe Czech-France is better). Spain will not have Verdasco (it`s important for the doubles..since Serbia has a wonderfull double) and of course..prolly Djokovic vs. Nadal will decide this.

So have fun in the world cup of tennis Very Happy

Austria will win their tie I think and I expect Serbia to beat Spain. I expect the "favourites" to win the remaining games.

A friend of mine has tickets for Croatia - Chile and he bought them before they announced Gonzales would not play. What a waste of money, Chilean players are nervous and argue with the ref's more than they actually play tennis.

A lot of interesting match ups to come, as well as some big names missing (Federer, Gonzalez, Verdasco, Ljubicic, Haas, Del Potro, Nalbandian, etc.) and several 50-50 type ties, in my opinion, makes for and interesting weekend of Davis Cup tennis.

For me, the Spain - Serbia tie will be very intriguing, as is the Czech Republic - France and also the Croatia - Chile.
