I hate Rijkaard for the reasons Caxi mentioned. When Antic took over Barca he put Luis Enrique on the bench. That was a decision compared to today economic crisis. He made most of the reforms and transformations before letting the club to Rijkaard. And who was Rijkaard, as Caxi said Sparta Rotterdam coach. MAh

What's with this Rijkaard notion?

In Rijkaard's first job in club management, he got Sparta Rotterdam relegated for the first time in their history and was promptly sacked. He should have been sacked a matter of months after he took over Barcelona, but wasn't, won 2 league titles out of five when he had the best team in Spain by a country mile each season and had sackloads of cash to spend.

Oh, he won a Champions League too...with the best team in the world by miles. In fact, he arguably had a far better team than Guardiola has now and yet Pep, in his first year of coaching, could usurp what Rijkaard did in his 5 years.

To be honest, I could have coached that Barcelona team to a Champions League and 2 league wins...the team was unbelievable. The more I read this thread, the more I realise that people just want a big name coach without actually looking at what managers have achieved in their careers. Rijkaard made a managerial career from being a big name footballer. There's a reason why he was left without a job this year.

sad, isnt it...?

thank you delio for everything, about a new coach;if he didnt go to rioma(once upon the time)-i will like him again(becouse in that time was 4-3-3),we played the most beutiful footbal in italy in that time.Yes it was to much risking footbal(that was he s bad side),never defend, even if we win 2-0,1-0(last 5 min.).for all of the young friends who s thinking that delio s footbal was ofencive(4-3-3)the answer is tht 4-3-3 we played in the middle of the 90-is.Diego simeone-why not,who said ericksoon Very Happy

Big name coaches, would want to build their own teams and that means they would request a huge transfer kitty, something we cant give.

So enough with the Rijkaards and Mancinis.

Ranieri won't solve anything, if you blast Rossi for not giving Tuia a chance which none knows how good he is right now then what should you do if the same guy wasn't playing talents like De Ceglie, Giovinco and Criscito who are/where much more in a developed state compared to Tuia.

Ranieri is all about defence, can't imagine this Lazio side having a defensive formation, something we can't do with the current crop of defenders, and for sure we dont have the money to just buy a whole new bunch of defenders. I just can't see Ranieri doing better than Rossi, he doesnt really have half of his charachter apart from that.

Probably Ranieri needs us,but we don't need him.We have a great and young team and with some decent signings,on the wright places,we can be a very strong team from Europe. If Lotito is a smart person he won't renew Rossi's contract. His time at Lazio is over. From now begins a new period in the team's life.Lotito's "five year plan" came to an end and we must show the world who we really are!!!For this we have material but we don't have a constructor.
I don't now who would be the best solution ,but I imagine a "Slaven Bilic" for us...

Whatever Lotito decides, he should hurry and decide now at the end of the league, so that Ross/or the new have plenty of time to build a good squad, and run over plans and tactics in the summer.

But for some reason i feel that lotito is gonna wait untill Pandev, ledesma, Matuzalem deals are sorted out ( which could take a lot of time), and after that he will meet with Rossi to renew contract or leave him, which means the new coach or Rossi will have less time to prepare,

I am getting stressed out, we should have decisions made after one week !!!

First, no Ranieri. I agree with you all on that.

Second, if Lotito is moving on, then one would hope he has a nice short list set up. Whether that has coaches available now or coaches he thinks will "become" available, he needs to have at least 3 people in mind. My guess is they will all be hot on a lot of teams lists.

Third, if Rossi is out, it needs to be done ASAP once the season is over, so that we can plan.

As of right now...I have no clue what Lotito is going to do, but I'm nervous that he's not going to pick the right person.

Delio was a great pick at the time, but we're ready for the next level, so it has to be someone who can manage talent AND lead us in Europe / Serie A.

???? I have no clue who that person is right now.

What is wrong with Ranieri ? I would give him a chance ... he has a good reputation, he can provide something new.. it will be a SMART choice for now.

I`m sick of Rossi ... do something Mr. Lotito !!

But yes, iam used for Lazio to be attcking formations, 4-3-3 with delio Rossi, and 3-5-2 sven goran erricson days, and others ...

Bringing Raneiri will kill the football in the club, who wants to watch a boring game with a formation like 5-4-1 ?????

Winning ugly is winning tooo, but it has no taste no passion !!!!

Sorry mate but Lazio right now (or in the past 3 seasons) was a club who wasnt (for the most of time) a boring club ? Except 10 matches (out of 80-90) we were very boring .. especialy last and this season. We havent results and we were boring..maybe now we will be boring but at least we wont lose home 1-4 with Cagliari or Chievo or Bologna or etc.

I'll rather have Delio still messing up with Lazio than old-thinking Ranieri. He never gave youngsters chance to prove them self in Juve, he would destroy any young guns of Lazio. Forget about Diakite, Tuia, Mancini, Faraoni and others....we'll have every has-been player availibale on the market.

NO to Ranieri. Hell NO!!!!!!!

I think Delio should go not because of his achievements, but because his bad relations with a lot of Lazio players...

A BIG name coach will bring BIG name players coming to us, even for limited salaries... and he will also bring BIG sponsors, BIG media attention and they're all will bring us BIG money...

and please don't say that we only need winning and not money, in order to win we need a lot of income first...

so yes caxi.... BIG NAME is needed!!

OK then, lets get big name Ranieri, a man with such a fantastic record in Italian football and a real winning mentality. That giallorosso scarf that he wears will look great as well.

Pfft. I'd rather we kept Delio Rossi than bring in a second rate alternative.

Hahahahahaha!

I agree.

Nothing really against Ranieri - from a coaching perspective, and I don't see how he is much better than Rossi. He is too defensive, doesn't give younger players a chance, and I have heard many times he is Riomanista. Screw that. We don't need him.

I know Lazio were linked with Del Neri recently but now he is very close to Sampdoria. Great news.

big names in my version are Rijkaard or the likes.... however Ranieri IS bigger than Rossi, he has more experiences, and too defensive is better for us than losing because of conceded a lot of silly goals under Delio Rossi, we need to learn how to defense more than how to attack.... and remember we got the scudetto because of the defensive tactic of erricson

Lazio need a lovable coach that make the players confident and united.... look at mourinho, ancelotti or hiddink, their players love them and praising them in every occasion, please anybody show me when was any of our players praising Delio this season?almost never... or never? even Lotito got more respects from the players than Delio Rossi...

I agree with your ideas as well. Delio clearly isn't a good man manager. Too many players have left and there's been too many dressing room splits.

but I don't agree that Ranieri or Rijkaard (who is no chance to coach us anyway) are the answer to our problems.

Walter Mazzarri is probably the best player-manager going around (just look at what he has done with Antonio Cassano) but his teams are more inconsistent than Delio Rossi's.

That's the key word. We need more stability in our performances. Can we find someone who have a solution to this problem I don't care if he's name is Rijkaard, Del Neri, Camolese or Simeone. Just not Ranieri. Very Happy

I was thinking, if Delio were to leave how about Michael Laudrup to replace him? Former player and a great coach?

Not a bad option at all, though he failed badly at Spartak.

I repeat what I wrote in the other topic: I think everything now depends from Rossi, and tomorrow's meeting with Lotito is going to show that. From Lotito's interviews, I have understood that Rossi's case is such: Lotito will ask Rossi whether he thinks he can handle a big squad with better quality players next season, and whether he can reach at least 6th place and good performance in Europe in the following years. If Rossi's scared (and he will be), he will say no, and leave Lazio in peace. If he says yes, then I think Lotito will offer him a modest contract but with great perspectives in case he wins something. In case he doesn't achieve the desired, I think Rossi will be sacked this December or next summer. As simple as that.

Lazio, for years and years to come, will struggle to stay in the Top 10 until this debt is cleared.

What Lazio need more than anything is to pinch great youth, be a feeder club if we need to be for a while and have a manager that can player to perform their best and get a good atmosphere in the dressing room.

Forget Rijkaard and Ranieri for this, Rijkaard couldn't handle big egos at Barca and Ranieri can't get players to outperform themselves.

With Lecce, Salernitana and Atalanta, Delio got players to perform above their best. He did it for two seasons at Lazio and in the last two league campaigns it has stopped BUT we have outperformed ourselves in the Coppa and have a trophy to show for it.

So for me, Delio has shown that we have the right characteristics to take us to the top. I think what people don't realise is that someone like Bari can come along, get promoted, stay up, have a great season, get into Europe and then build a squad that pushes us down the league. With Serie A now having their own separate TV rights like the Premier League, any team that comes up from Serie B will be able to outspend us in the mercato.

So, we have to outperform ourselves to make money from now on and the only other coach that is capable of that in Serie A is Allegri; and he's not a proven winner yet.

BIG coaches attract BIG player because they are given BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG transfer budgets. Something we cannot do, so a big name for us is useless.

If you want a big name coach, the only realistic candidates are Schuster and Jol. Lotito wouldn't offer them enough cash. Remember, Rossi is paid less than Manfredini...

We are a bit backeard because we have few glory days. Lazio, for me, isn't any better.

Nobody here knows the effect of the new Serie A TV rights. Seriously, that could throw us well down the table if we mess up this mercato.

True Caxi but how many games will sell Bari or Torino.......

Big teams are more attractive and sell more games. Lazio in past years has became attractive team with quality players and very opened game that is good for watching.

Btw can some find statistic about our dept and how much money is left to cover.
