I think either would be a really decent buy Ivan, but the fact that Premier League teams have been interested in both of them for a while now (Everton were one) suggests that Zoran and rockybalboa are right. Either would be a useful replacement for our midfielders who may leave, I just reckon we'd be massively outbid even before looking at salaries. Maresca should have come back to Italy a few years ago, if he is available he would be a good buy, possibly a better buy than Matuzalem?

I am going to give Matu the benefit of the doubt...massive negative to him is that he seems to be injured for 2 or 3 months at a time..seemsto be abit fragile...

But when he is on, he is a very good midfielder...

i personally think it really wouldnt hurt to go after maresca aswell!! he still has defensive qualities..and he has a lot of experience...have no idea what sevilla would ask for him, but seems as though they want him out and he wants out...so maybe he will go on the cheap..

he is only 29yrs old, and he is a hard working midfielder...and thats what we need..

Achille Emana would be available for 5.8 million or less!!

http://goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/07/11/1376078/bolton-wanderers-chase-real-betis-achille-emana-report

I'd say get him... he's only 27 and had great seasons in the latest few years.... despite the relegation of Betis, he's one of the best midfielder in La Liga...

Emana is a great player but a lot of teams from the EPL are on the hunt to take him ..

How about Stephen Appiah? He is currently without a club...type of midfielder we need.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/07/13/1380828/ex-catania-striker-gionatha-spinesi-looking-for-a-new-club

I'd rather we gave Makinwa away and signed Spinesi now that he's free and available. He chips in with goals every season, knows how the league works and with European competition, Gionatha is just the kind of guy who could step in on a Sunday afternoon after someone else has exhausted himself midweek.

PS. I know he has had severe injury trouble but if Owen is good enough for Man U then someone like Spinesi is perfect for us. He scores goals in his sleep.

True that, Caxi. I also like Spinesi and wouldn't mind him in the club if we offload some of our current strikers.

Once again..probably the 4th post from me on this..

but refers to Palacio at 4m.....boca need to sell...

surely he would be a great option..

ps on the Spinesi idea...couldn't agree more..he is one of those strikers that is a inzaghi, ganz like striker and just score goals because they know the league, have great experience...get rid of makinwa and get some experienced strikers in their aswell..

Appiah has a knee problem of some sort and nobody thus far has been willing to take him and his knee on.

I think he's still in decent shape otherwise and playing for Ghana. Not certain of that though.

I read Palermo and Genoa is after his signature...no?

Yep.

Genoa in the box seat apparently...would be incredibly disappointing..fair enough we got Zarate instead which was the best option, but for 4m..I would take on Palacio...provided we start getting rid of some players..inzaghi,makinwa etc

Also, just had a thought i wonder if Spinesi would go back to Bari since they have been promoted..got a feeling they will attempt to resign him...

I think he is a great option for us...With a europe on board for us aswell, he will be good for cup games and also add some experience and depth..much better than inzaghi and makinwa..

Lugano..

Looking like Lugano is most likely going to sign on with Fernabache....

Obviously the talk was from his agent to get more money from the Turks...

Now, he is most likely going to get 3m per season for 4 years...

http://www.goal.com/en/news/89/africa/2009/07/19/1391818/metz-demand-hefty-compensation-to-free-razak-omotoyossi

Omotoyossi in a spot of contract bother.

750,000 euro for a hot prospect in world football is pennies. I know he is a risk and all but surely we can sell Makinwa for a million or two and get in a younger, more talented player for a small profit. Even on a one or two-year contract initially.

The guy has made some bad mistakes, bad club choices and I think his attitude is questionable but he could be of good use to a team like us. This guy was on a par with Berg in Sweden not long ago.

The fact a club like Sivasspor are chasing him (2nd in Turkey last season, in CL qualification) shows that other clubs see him as a bargain. Considering Lotito is a cheapskate when it comes to wheeling and dealing, I wonder why he has yet to make a move.

I like this guy. Omotoyossi was very good at Helsingborgs alongside Henrik Larsson. I have also read things about his attitude problems, but if Makinwa can be sold off I would definitely like Lotito to give this guy a chance. For such a bargain I would be very tempted.

For the defence, for me Juan Forlin is the best option at CB, we have been linked and this man has a great future ahead of him, similar to Cannavaro in that he lacks that bit of height, but has a great leap and is very competitive.

Lugano on a free would be good.

Otamendi also a great option.

For the attack I would highly recommend Man City's Caicedo, he's very young powerful and strong and can score.

Agreed. And considering Man City now have 8 strikers at there disposal, it’s unlikely he’ll get much playtime.

He is big, strong, young, and reasonably quick. He reminds me of a younger version of Yakubu.

I think he would be a fantastic signing.

Ignazio Abate looks like he will be joining Ass Rioma soon..... a real shame. He's a very talented young player and would have been useful at Lazio. He is worth around 6 million Euros from what I read but will join Merda on a co-ownership deal for half of that.

Andrea Esposito of Lecce was linked with Lazio a few weeks ago - he looks very promising, but looks likely to join Genoa within the next few days.

Genoa and Palermo are both after Daniele Portanova from Siena which sucks as I was hoping he would return to the club he grew up supporting. For me, Portanova is underrated and at 30 still has several years of top Italian level football left in him. He would also be cheap, and would play with a lot of passion and add grit to our back line.

All classy players who would fit in well at Lazio.

Man, we need to get a move on. Portanova would have been great but we can't buy until we sell.

The large squad we have is a massive problem, and teams are waiting for prices to be dumped and clubs and players to be a bit more desperate in the transfers, so we will probably have most of the players with us for another few weeks. As long as we have what we have, we cannot buy anything else. I would say we need to get two players out for each player that we transfer in

Fiorentina will be selling 4 players over the next few weeks - Dainelli, Semioli, Da Costa and Papa Waigo.

How I would love to have Dario Dainelli at Lazio!

Dainelli would be the next best option if our Lugano chase fails, in terms of experince. Good defender.

But im pretty sure Fiorentina would want De Silvestri included in any deal.
