Christian Vieri has signed a pre-contract deal with Botafogo in Brazil.

To debut in the Paulista 2010.

Botafogo are in relegation trouble and if they dont soon sort things out, he could very well be playing Serie-B football in Brazil in 2010.

The thing is... he signed for Botafogo from São Paulo. The "famous" one, that is fighting against relegation is from Rio de Janeiro...
That means he is going to play for a club that is not even on the third division... But we have a chance of seeing him against Ronaldo in São Paulo State Championship Very Happy

Palmeiras finally end there loosing streak with a great 4-0 win over Goias. Obina with a hatrick.

2 points clear now.

But stil a big ask to win the title. Some very hard games left in the last 6.

Starting with Corinthians at Home saturday.

Other games include Gremio away, Fluminense away & Atletico Mineiro at Home.

Very tough run in.

What a week! Managed to watch 3 games:

Flamengo - Santos 1-0 (1-0): The Emperor providing the magic in the first half, Santos attacking the entire 2nd half but Bruno was simply unbeatable with 2 penalties saved. Three precious points for Mengao, G4 here we come! Still can't believe Mengo learned to defend properly... hope I didn't jinx it now, tongue

Palmeiras - Corinthians 2-2 (0-1): Marcos with an uncharacteristic mistake which led to a red card and a penalty which Ronnie buried. With a man down Palmeiras manages to equalize twice from set pieces. Phlegmatic Corinthians continues to throw away points as they've already qualified to the South American champions league with their cup win. The title race for Palmeiras just gets tighter and tighter, with performances like this and a tough schedule ahead they can kiss the title good bye.

Cruzeiro - Fluminense 2-3 (2-0): Cruzeiro scoring comfortably 2 in the first half with chances of adding even a few more. If watching the Italian serie A, this is when you turn off the tv, but in Brazil... Fluminense came back strong in the second half and turned the game around in 17 minutes to give their 2nd away win in 16 games. Cruzeiros home curse seems to continue as they seemed to forget how to play football in the 2nd half.

On a side note such a shame to see Inter to lose to Botafogo. That team is stacked with talent but just doesn't seem to click.

Can't see anyone sane watching cr*p like the Italian defend all you can serie a (besides la Lazio) when you have such an entertaining league in Brazil.

Craican week indeed. Plenty of top quality games.

Goias 2-3 Atletic Mineiro. What a game, Goias from 2-0 down made it 2-2, before Tardelli made is 2-3. Minero very much a title contender.

As a Palmeiras fan, its a mystery to see that they have not already rapped up the title, and will indeed more than likley throw it away with a woefully hard run in.

Agreed about Inter, Palmeiras & Corinthians are in the same boat, ooze quality, just cant see to get results on a consistant basis.

It was a great game for me (Palmeiras - Corinthians) because my idol scored twice! Very Happy

It looks like Palmeiras just don't have what it takes to be champions (still ..) but Sao Paolo are showing great football and are wining their most important games in the end of the season like the big teams do. I would be really happy if Palmeiras win the tittle but I think they will make more mistakes till the end of the season ...

Its realisticly now a tussle between, Palmeiras, Sao Paulo, Atletico Mineiro & Flamengo.

The only consolation is for Palmeiras would be an automatic place in the Libertadores. But that would be heart breaking in it self.

Sao Paulo go to Gremio next. What a game that shall be.

While Atletico Mineiro host Flamengo.

2 Amazing games in prospect.

Palmeiras go to Fluminense who are fighting for there lives as well as possesing severe quality could make for droped points.

What a title race though. Amazing stuff.

I don't watch the Brazilian League as much nowadays but I still follow results. Its a very interesting title race and one which will surely go down to the wire. I hope Fluminense survive. I've always liked them - as well as Gremio.

Fluminense 1-0 Palmeiras

Atletico Mineiro 1-3 Flamengo

The form book says the title is Flamengo's.

Worrying times for Palmeiras though. Bad Times.

Palms will have the perfect chance to regain some confidence against already relegated Recife.

I agree that the form says Mengo wins the title, although Sao Paulo has a slightly easier schedule.

Even so, there are still 5 teams in the title race (I'm counting Inter out already) and the situation seems to change weekly.

Just get your Caipirinhas ready and enjoy the showdown

Palmeiras 2-0 down at home to Recife after half an hour.

Bye bye Libertadores, never mind the league.

I just cant believe this capitulation of the last 6 weeks?

An hour to save there season.

Recife are woeful.

A point here would be a catastrophe.

Can't believe Cruzeiro made another mess at home by letting a 9 man Gremio to equalize in injury time!

All the better for Mengo though bounce

Any opinions if Ronnie and/or Adriano will make the WC squad? Personally I would not be surprised if both of them would make the team.

For me Adriano is a certainty to go to WC. Ronnie would be rather doubtful.

True shcoking stuf from a genuinley quality team in Cruzeiro.

3 games to go. Sao Paulo & Flamengo have easy run ins, with Flamengo's slightly easier.

Palmeiras have Gremio & Atletico Mineiro to play. So a top 4 at this stage would be great for them, with a Libertodores place. The season cant end soon enough for them, their last 10 games or so, the form has been absoilutley awful. They have thrown the title away.

In other news, Roberto Carlos will join Corinthians in January.

Guess it also depends what will Ronnie and the Emperor do after the league is over in December.
Not sure how it will affect their chances if they start to play with their clubs in May while the WC begins already in June.

After having a closer look, I start to think that the remaining schedules of Sao Paulo and Flamengo are a wash. They both meet Goias, Flamengo has a rather unpredictable Corinthians away
and Gremio at home. Sao Paulo has Botafogo away which will be tough but on the other hand they face an already relegated Recife at home in the last round.

Haven't followed Verdao that closely to comment what went actually wrong. However from the games I've seen, Wagner Love has been a big disappointment while Edmilson has been rather
modest as well. Obina has been from decent to good in my eyes, hopefully he can continue from there next season with Mengo.

I didnt wanna write here because of the huge dissapointment.

Palmeiras missed out on the Copa Libertadores which is disgusting, when all was in their own hands.

Certs for the championship, lead for 19 rounds and fuck things write up at the end, disgraceful stuff.

Congrats to Flamengo though.

Flamengo crashed out of the top 4 in the last round last year as well. All we had to do was to win (can't remember against who) and we failed. I was really disappointed too, that's why I was holding my breath mostly for us to go into Libertadores this year, not to win the championship... well, until the last 2 rounds or so.

So I kind of know how it feels, but of course the case of Palmeiras this year is worse by a degree.

What a great finish to a trully interesting Campeonato Brasileiro! I'm really happy that I had the chance to see quite a lot of games this season and to be honest I can't wait to see some more next year. I heard that Roberto Carlos will come back to Brazil and will play for Corinthians with Ronaldo cheers

Congratulations to Flamengo for the tittle! They deserved it and Petkovic and Adriano deserved it because they made a great season.

Yeah Roberto Carlos is on his way to Corinthians. Another player who had a great season was Macinho from Atletico Paranaense. He use to play for Palmeiras, he was capped by Brazil in his tiome with them. Dagoberto had a great season for Sao paulo, great second striker/playmaker.

Dissapointed in Vagner Love, did not make a great impression what som ever, his loan deal was that long so he could play in Copa Lib, which aint happening now. But in Diego Souza, Clayton Xavier, Pablo Armero & Obina Palmeiras posses a lot of quality.

For the Paulista, a new manager is needed as well as a few reinforcements and of course hopefully can hold on to the big names. Ciro from Sport Recife is an extremley promising talent, and considering they got relegated, surley he will be on the way.

On a brighter note, although heart-breaking in Bota's case, its good that the Brasileiro kept the likes of Botafogo and Fluminense. Vasco de Gama return which will add to the great stength of the league. Along with Guarani, Ceara & Atletico Goianiense.
